The Role

The Vice President of Network Operations Center (NOC) reports to the SVP, Service Assurance.  The VP is accountable for ensuring our critical national and global infrastructure, services and operations adhere to industry standards, regulations, and best practices while maintaining the highest levels of compliance, security, quality, reliability and resiliency.  You will drive world class operations with a focus on continuous improvement, exceeding customer expectations by creating a differentiator in the market.  You will lead a team of talented professionals to create and implement strategies that guarantee the continuous availability, confidentiality and integrity of all services, systems, applications and data.   

 

Accountable for on-call support for customer network trouble situations providing 7x24x365 support in the following areas.

  • Surveillance and Fault Management – All core network oversight for local, national, and international network footprints.
  • Software and Hardware Technical Support – Initial point of contact for field personnel and equipment vendors; management of support engineers.
  • Network Modernization/Optimization – Manage core network additions, moves, changes, and/ or maintenance activities.  
  • Performance – In-depth performance analysis and reporting.
  • Network Event Management – Coordination of restoral activities.
  • Public Safety Services – All aspects that support 911, includes all regulatory requirements, network, monitoring, ALI Database and CPE Technical Support.

 

 

The Main Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the NOC team, including hiring, training, coaching, and performance evaluation
  • Develop and execute the NOC vision, strategy, and goals in line with company priorities to build a highly efficient and world class operations team
  • Develop and implement a multi-year strategy modernize operations through the use of tools, automation, AI and ML for advanced correlation, time to isolate and time to repair in order to reduce the need for human intervention for management and maintenance of the network
  • Lead continuous improvement and optimization of the network, to enhance service quality, availability, reliability, efficiency, effectiveness, customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Coordinate and oversee the network incident and problem management processes, ensuring timely and effective resolution and root cause analysis
  • Manage the network change and configuration management processes, ensuring compliance and minimal disruption
  • Plan and execute the network maintenance, upgrade, and expansion projects, ensuring alignment with the network architecture and design
  • Manage the network vendor relationships, contracts, and service levels
  • Showcase Lumen’s competitive advantage and reputation, by demonstrating network excellence and compliance with industry standards.
  • Reduce operational costs and risks, by minimizing network downtime, errors, and inefficiencies.
  • Increase business agility by facilitating swift deployment and integration of new services and technologies.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders and stakeholders across the company to develop and execute strategies for service improvement, innovation, and growth.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and coaching to the Network Operations leadership team.
  • Develop training programs, standards, tools, and methods to foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement within the organization.

What We Look For in a Candidate

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 15+ years of experience in network operations, engineering, or administration
  • 5+ years of experience in leading and managing network teams
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale, complex operations organizations, and delivering high-quality and reliable services.
  • Expertise in network operations methodologies, tools, and technologies and designing, building, and operating networks at the highest levels of performance, security, and reliability.
  • Experience designing and automating processes by leveraging technology and data that result in significant operational improvement.
  • Strong experience using and implementing industry-standard and/or state-of-the-art operational tools and systems to deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Successful track record of building and leading programs to deliver material improvements in operational efficiencies and business automation.
  • Strategic, analytical, and problem-solving mindset, with the ability to drive innovation and transformation.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage with customers, partners, and internal teams.
  • Customer-centric, results-oriented, and collaborative leadership style, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams and stakeholders.

Compensation

The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee’s primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual’s qualifications.

Location Based Pay Ranges

$167,580 – $223,440 in these states: AR, ID, KY, LA, ME, MS, NE, SC, and SD.
$176,400 – $235,200 in these states: AZ, AL, FL, GA, IN, IA, KS, MO, MT, NM, ND, OH, OK, PA, TN, UT, VT, WV, WI, and WY.
$185,220 – $246,960 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NV, NH, NC, OR, and RI.
$194,040 – $258,720 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DE, DC, IL, MD, MA, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.

As with the pay range variety that’s based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.
