As part of the Bechtel PMC team on the Thai Oil project, the Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for assigned activities within the Electrical engineering discipline.
The Senior Electrical Engineer shall have significant industry experience and have previously held lead positions for a relevant period of time. In addition, the Senior Electrical Engineer shall have hands-on experience of project execution from conceptual design, feasibility studies and front-end design activities to detailed design, equipment procurement and overseeing of subcontracts to site supervisory activities and commissioning for the Oil, Gas and Chemical industries.
The Senior Electrical Engineer shall be responsible for working with minimal supervision and shall report to the Project Engineering Manager on the project task force and to the Chief Electrical Engineer corporately. The Senior Electrical Engineer must be competent and able to expediently work in a culturally diverse, interactive, and productive team environment, uphold the company’s ethics and leadership covenants and apply the company’s highest standards of quality to all facets of the work including technical and administrative aspects.
The Senior Electrical Engineer shall be able to apply broad and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices, make decisions independently concerning problems within the discipline on the project and represent the discipline on the project and with the client to resolve technical questions and as required to coordinate work. As part of the PMC team, the Senior Electrical Engineer responsibilities shall encompass overseeing the design and specification of electrical systems and equipment for the project, including HV/MV/LV switchgear, Transformers, Power Generators, Motors, Variable Speed Drives, UPSs, Cabling, Design of electrical power systems, Power Systems Analysis and Electrical Network Control/Monitoring systems.
Other responsibilities include:
- Planning, organizing, coordinating and controlling the Electrical aspects of the project
- Developing project standards and work instructions as required
- Developing execution strategies
- Performing technical audits
- Coordinate with client representatives as delegated to obtain their approval on phases of work
- Coordinates assigned engineering work with other project groups
- Reviews and approves key engineering drawings and calculations, including field and design documents relating to the discipline
Solid background in Electrical engineering in the petroleum related contracting industry covering all aspects of Electrical engineering and design activities, preparation of deliverables and the implementation of work processes.
Must possess detailed knowledge of HV, MV & LV switchgear, transformers, generators, motors, power system analysis, electrical protection systems, area classification and the selection of electrical equipment/materials for use in hazardous areas.
Familiar with International Standards and their application as well as industry trends and their likely impacts.
Knowledge of systems, calculations, equipment, applications of methods, materials, and computers in the discipline.
Knowledge of engineering work planning and control methods.
Knowledge of precedents in the discipline and of principles and practices of related disciplines.
Knowledge of related construction practices and the economics involved.
Knowledge of industry /regulatory codes and standards, and design and/or layout criteria pertinent to the particular discipline.
Skill in oral and written communication
Demonstrated skill in leadership
Knowledge of application and coordination of Smartplant suite of tools (SP3D, SPEL, SPF) and ETAP power system analysis software on a project
Graduate degree in Electrical Engineering
