What do we need:

Principle Engineer to lead the planning and construction of capital improvements and/or new construction of offices, warehouses and manufacturing facilities around the world.

 

What’s special about this team:

Our Operations Engineering team is comprised of a talented team whose work is focused on the design, development, and implementation of diverse capital projects for Amway’s Global operations.  The team works on a broad range of projects that span multiple engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, automation, chemical, and software). This role may involve both domestic and global travel to meet project demands.  While travel is usually limited, it can vary by project complexity and / or volume of projects.

 

What’s special about this role:

This role will lead Amway’s largest construction projects including ideation, design, bidding and ultimately executing the project on-time and on-budget. You will be responsible for developing the overall construction plan and oversee construction of the project to competition. You will work with both domestic and international supply chain functions, suppliers, and commercial partners and act as the primary contact for our external Construction Management firm on large-scale projects. This will require general construction proficiency, general project management skills, effective influencing and strong business acumen.

 

Required qualifications:

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in Construction Management
  • BS degree in Construction Management, Engineering or an equivalent combination of formal education, on-the-job training, and/or work experience

 

Skills to be successful in the role:

  • Understanding of civil design requirements for a GMP facility
  • Understanding of building codes, local & international, as well as safety regulations
  • Project Management: Planning, scheduling, budgeting, scope and risk management
  • Managing Multiple Priorities:  Ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.
  • Relationship Management:  Ability to develop and maintain effective and productive relationships, including ability to influence, negotiate and manage conflicts effectively and constructively with clients, suppliers and peers.
  • Knowledge of the Business:  Knowledge of the business and the key internal and external drivers that affect the business, including financial, political and industry trends.
  • Critical Thinking:  Ability to formulate conclusions and recommendations using facts and data, business analysis, deductive reasoning and sound judgment.
