Project Overview:
The ML2 Project involves the design and construction of a launch platform for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The purpose of ML2, located at Kennedy Space Center (KSC), is to provide a launch platform for the Space Launch System (SLS), an advanced launch vehicle that will fill America’s need for deep space missions. ML2 includes many different subsystems that must operate and fit within the constraints of the structure and provide physical interface with KSC launch sites’ ground systems.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will support the Project Manager with routine prime contract administration duties and closeout. You will assist with assembling and maintaining the contract baseline, establishing and implementing contract management tools, monitoring performance, and investigating specific contract problems. Your work will contribute to the overall efficiency of prime contract administration. #LI-SF1
Major Responsibilities:
Level 1
- Assists in assembling and maintaining the prime contract baseline including terms and conditions, specifications, drawings, estimate, schedule, proposal, and other baseline documents
- Assists the Project Manager, Prime Contract Manager or Prime Contract Administrator with the establishment and implementation of contract management tools, procedures and forms as outlined in the Prime Contracts Management Manual
- Monitors areas of prime contract performance, as assigned, including research (factual/contractual); data entry for logs, trackers, other routine administrative tasks; production of metrics/status reports for management review
Level 2
- Gathers and compiles support data for the preparation of contract documents and management of the prime contract, monitors billing for compliance
Education and Experience Requirements:
Level 1
- Requires a University Hire with 1-2 years of experience or 5-6 years of relevant work experience
Level 2
- Requires bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Basic experience or courses in pricing, contract law, contract drafting, administration and negotiation of change orders, effective correspondence, planning and scheduling.
- Working knowledge of engineering/construction industry contracting practices, applicable government and commercial regulations and practices, and Bechtel policies, procedures and work practices.
- Basic Level and understanding of Federal Acquisition Regulations, and applicable Agency Supplements.
- Basic Level and understanding of Governmental Contracts and the flow-down of applicable clauses and requirements.
- NASA project experience. (Preferred)
- Oral communication skills, interpersonal skills to interface with project team and functional management, Microsoft Word and Excel skills and organizational skills are highly desirable.
