DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Primary Duty:
This position is responsible for the implementation and execution of, preventative and predictive maintenance practices supporting the achievement of best-cost manufacturing.
Working Procedure:
On a plant wide basis, utilize preventive and predictive maintenance technologies to develop predictive maintenance systems. Identify and document the system training needs. Maintain all monitoring equipment, diagnostic tools and information management systems required. Identify when and what outside resources are needed to support predictive maintenance. Coordinate outside vendor projects and evaluate their performance. Maintain any service agreements as required. Using predictive data, establish critical store requirements to minimize cost and improve equipment effectiveness. Implement predictive maintenance practices for all new equipment installations. Participate in industry seminars and training events to maintain current on preventative and predictive maintenance technologies.
With a high degree of acquired skill and knowledge, use diagnostic tools and monitoring equipment to collect, analyze, and report predictive maintenance data. Identify critical operating parameters for equipment to minimize induced variation in the value added process. Work with production, engineering and support staff personnel to investigate, analyze, and plan for correction of production problems. Use vibration analysis, acoustical source, and natural or resonant frequency identification to troubleshoot equipment or system related problems. Performs complex mathematical operations such as single and dual plane balance calculations, gear train frequency calculation, and bearing frequency calculations.
Follow safe working procedures. Operate power scooter, check oil and fuel in power scooter. Maintain clean working area. Requisition, code, and sign for store items needed in storeroom. Perform other miscellaneous duties as required or requested. Use care to prevent equipment damage. Complete and communicate required reports accurately.
Supervised by Maintenance Manager or designate.
Job Output:
The effective monitoring and diagnosis of equipment related degradation conditions at the Marietta Plant. This position is responsible and accountable for the collection, analysis, and reporting of predictive maintenance data in support of the PM-PdM System in a way that supports best-cost management of the allocated maintenance and plant budgets. This position is also directly involved with the continual improvement efforts to ensure manufacturing best cost and customer satisfaction.
Key Processes:
1. Minimum Knowledge and Education Level
· Must be Vibration Analysis Level One certified (Entek/IRD) or Upon submitting winning job bid pass certification test.
· Must be proficient in the installation and alignment of components such as gearboxes, shafts and bearings.
· Must be able to interpret data in graphical or chart form.
· Must be able to perform basic mathematical operations such as:
· Ratios
· Powers
· Drive ratio calculations (sheave, gear, gearbox)
· Units Conversion (metric to SAE etc…)
· Must be able to perform complex mathematical operations, following training, in order to troubleshoot and diagnose equipment or system related degradation conditions such as the following:
· Single and dual plane balance calculations
· Gear train frequency calculations
· Bearing frequency calculations
· Acoustic source identification and correction
· Natural or resonant frequency identification and correction.
· Must be capable of operating and maintaining ODBC compliant databases, following training.
· Must be able to demonstrate the ability to use Microsoft Office Suite products. (must be proficient with minimum training)
2. PdM Technology Use and Implementation
· Implement the predictive technologies at the plant to support the ABP PM-PdM System.
· Own and improve the PdM Technologies for the plant.
· Drive the ABP PM- PdM System towards increased use of PdM technologies to offset intrusive PM activities.
· Maintain the PdM hardware and software items and associated service agreements.
· Responsible for PdM Technology implementation on new equipment installation for both startup activities and long term maintenance strategy implementation.
· Continuously improve the PdM Technologies with application and introduction of improved monitoring, analysis and reporting methods.
3. Integration with Maintenance and Production Systems
· Identify opportunities for developing master job plans to support a condition-based approach to maintenance.
· Coordinate with storeroom system to optimize the spare parts strategy for critical pieces of equipment.
· Identify and assist in determining critical operating parameters for equipment to minimize induced variation in the value added processes.
4. PdM Technology Interface and Communication
· Participates in the training and development of replacement and relief personnel. Supports personnel to meet performance standards in areas including but not limited to safety, quality, service, and costs.
· Collaborates with production and staff personnel in investigating, analyzing, and planning action for correction of production problems or project planning or scheduling where maintenance or equipment considerations are involved.
· Collaborates closely with Manufacturing Managers and Project Engineers on work associated with monitoring equipment for project installations.
· Identifies outside resources (such as vendors and contractors) to support the use of PdM Technologies and evaluates their performance in terms of quality, service, and cost.
· Collaborates with peers or Technical Resources at other ABP plants to solve issues.
5. Initial and Ongoing Training and Certification
· Stays current with changing trends and technologies as they relate to technical maintenance skills.
· Participates in industry seminars and training events to maintain current on PdM Technologies.
6. Miscellaneous Requirements
· Complies with all applicable rules and regulations, including safety requirements.
· Must be willing to travel <5%.
