Position Summary:

The Lead Hand Hydraulic Mechanic is responsible for overseeing and performing repair services, assembly services and troubleshooting in support of the overall business plan and the strategic direction of the company.  The Hydraulic Technician/Mechanic will be actively involved in all daily activities related to growing Fluid Power business in our Kamloops location.  As a Lead Hand you will be responsible to support and provide training to other employees in the fluid power trade and be available for field service as per customer requirements.

 

Responsibilities

  • Inspection, repair and testing of Pumps, Motors, Valves, Cylinders and all related FP components.
  • System Troubleshooting both in shop and field setting
  • Repair and testing of lubrication pumps, systems and installations
  • Cylinder, measurements, honing and lapping of critical parts
  • Inspection and repair of mechanical components including gear boxes, pulleys, process pumps bearing assemblies
  • Assist in coordination of jobs, overtime and be available for afterhours.
  • Ensure adherence to quoted and specified scope of work, component supply and customer requirements
  • Failure analysis, condition reporting. 
  • Be a leader and actively participate in the Applied Corporate Safety Program.  Ensure all safety processes are within regulations and program is implemented successfully and standards are upheld.  Work safely, lead by example and contribute to company safety program.
  • Communicate scope of work and work instructions professionally and effectively to employees and administration
  • Complete work and test reports according to quality systems and procedures.
  • Perform repair services to the highest trade and company standards

Qualifications

  • Highly skilled technical and mechanical ability with proficiency in use of all hand tools, machinery, diagnostic and performance testing equipment associated with hydraulic service, mechanical components and applications
  • Proven ability in overhaul/reconditioning/performance testing of hydraulic components including fixed and variable displacement pumps and motors; open and closed loop systems; manual, solenoid-operated, proportional and servo valving; hydraulic cylinders; filtration; hose and pipe assemblies
  • The ability to communicate knowledgeably and professionally with clients, suppliers and internal personnel.
  • Versatility and willingness to learn new methods and product to suit changing technology and customer demands as required.
  • Have own supply of common hand tools for completing job function
  • Proven ability in hydraulic system maintenance and condition monitoring
  • Heavy Duty Mechanic / Millwright training is an asset
  • Experience in FP industry or industrial environment is an asset
  • Proven system troubleshooting
  • Field Service experience
  • Organize and work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work safely, lead by example and contribute to overall company safety

 

Hourly rate will vary dependent on the selected individual’s experience and skillset; ideally between the range of $37.00 – $43.00 per hour
