Orbital ATK is a major supplier of space of products that power and enable satellites of all classes. Products include spacecraft panels, bus structures, precision optical structures, deployable structural systems and mechanisms, solar arrays, antenna reflectors and propulsion tanks. Our products are on virtually every U.S. satellite built in the last 20 years.​

Orbital ATK is currently hiring a Composites Assembly Technician in our San Diego, CA location. Successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

Primary Responsibilities:

• Handling and managing fragile composite materials.
• Bond, prep and bonding of composite structures.
• Notate usage and out time controls on all adhesive materials used.
• Report data and interface with other employees and departments.
• Tooling preparation and release application.
• Utilize measurement tools such as calipers, rulers, and tape measures for fabricating hardware.
• Assist in maintaining overall shop appearance and cleanliness.

Skills/Experience:

• 8+ years experience with close-tolerance assembly work (e.g. electronics assembly, mechanical assembly, modeling)
• 8+ years experience in a composites/manufacturing environment (space/satellite structures, aerospace manufacturing environment preferred) and/or specialized education past HS such as an applicable certification or AA degree.
• Superior Mechanical Ability.
• Initiative, self starter, adaptable, and high motivation for excellence.
• Able to read, write and work to written instructions, blueprints, or shop drawings in English.
• Proficient use of basic shop arithmetic.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize.
• Experience or familiarity with ISO requirements, standards, and compliance issues.
• Standard computer literacy skills in Microsoft Office: Word and Excel.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Excels in a team environment.
• Ability to work under limited supervision.
• Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to be on feet for up to 8+ hours each day.
• Ability to work Overtime and Weekends as needed.

Successful candidate will work 1st shift (5:00 am – 1:30 pm)

NOTE: Position may be filled at one lower level with 1-2 years related experience and HS education and/or specialized education past HS such as an applicable certification or AA degree.
