Overview

Spencer Fluid Power, a subsidiary of Applied Industrial Technologies is seeking a detail-oriented, highly organized Buyer / Inventory Control Specialist to manage our branches procurement activities. You will be responsible for

  • Maintaining local inventory levels, expediting rush orders and other related services
  • Sourcing and purchasing high-quality products and services at competitive prices, negotiating deliveries, and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers.
  • Supporting other departments as needed.

What you will do:

  • Receive automatic order report of sales history data.  Determine items to be purchased to replenish and maintain safe on-hand supply.  Enter purchases into ERP system Epicor P21 (P21). 
  • Process purchase orders and coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods.
  • Receive PO confirmations; review and check for accuracy; make corrections and enter delivery dates in P21.
  • Collaborate with other departments to identify procurement needs and ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Receive rush orders and memo stock checks.  Analyze and determine stock availability, economical and quick delivery, inventory requirements and replenishment.  Expedite replies or place orders.
  • Determine if customer returns or cancellations should be placed in stock or returned vendor; obtain approvals, issue debit memos as necessary.
  • Follow-up on back orders updating delivery dates as needed and informing the sales staff of changes.
  • Receive and review reports for prices, quantities, shipping charges and the like; make corrections, verify.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field a plus
  • 1+ yr experience as a Purchasing Agent, in purchasing procedures, inventory management or similar role
  • Negotiation skills and ability to develop relationships with suppliers.
  • Analytical, organizational, and time management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and purchasing software.
  • Knowledge of supply chain management principles and best practices.
