The Role

The Technician may be required to perform a variety of different functions based on the needs of our business customers, including but not limited to PSAP installation, maintenance and repair.  Without direct supervision and utilizing established guidelines, procedures, and/or policies the Technician may be responsible to effectively perform all functions required.  Works independently under minimal supervision, and may act as a team leader. Has expert knowledge of business services and strong business acumen.  Applies advanced principles, theories, and concepts performing tasks associated with the installation, maintenance, and repair of B1/Centrex, HSI, GPON, Fiber Plus, Hosted VOIP, Data Services, and Customer Premise Equipment (CPE).  Performs a wide spectrum of moderately complex assignments requiring problem-solving and organizational skills, while demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills. Assumes all assignments, periodic projects, and required work shifts and standby assignments.

The Main Responsibilities

  • Perform installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of high-speed internet, and voice networks, including associated wiring and equipment.
  • When installing or repairing telephone services, connect equipment to inside cables and make cross-connections by connecting color-coded wires.
  • Troubleshoots various CPE equipment, removes/replaces defective equipment, and works with appropriate resources to isolate and ultimately restore service.  Proactively identify potential problem areas to ensure the integrity of services.  May need to perform work during maintenance windows.  
  • Convey a positive and professional appearance and demeanor when communicating the company’s products and services to our customers.
  • Actively support sales and marketing-related activities.
  • Perform a pre-survey to determine whether the facility requirements are met before CPE installation projects. Meet and review with the customer the work specified in the work order and the possibilities of utilizing existing facilities for upgrading/customizing services.
  • Responsible for oversight of the asset management processes and replenishment of truck materials. Ensure shipping and receiving of company and customer materials is coordinated and timely. Maintains tools, test sets, and all equipment.  
  • Observe all safety rules and regulations.
  • Assist other technical personnel in the performance of their duties when requested.

What We Look For in a Candidate

  • Relevant telephony experience totaling a minimum of B1, HSI, GPON and/or Centrex (analog and digital)
  • Knowledge of basics in computer networking (layer 1 and layer 2)
  • Proficient in PC skills (Microsoft/Windows/Office)
  • Must have a valid Nevada Driver’s License and a good driving record
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to read and understand service orders
  • Must be able to distinguish colors
  • Must be able to work any shift, overtime, and standby as required
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to obtain, clear, and maintain additional federal background checks and badging requirements required
  • Must be able to travel for business-related training and/or work assignments

Preferred:

  • CCNA
  • A+ Certification (Computer Competency)
  • N+ Certification (Skill Understanding)
  • Core Data – Networking 101-102
  • Hosted VOIP experience
  • Knowledge of PSAP, Avaya IPO (Basic up to 20 stations)
  • Basic PBX programming skills

Compensation

Minimum Hourly Wage $17.46
Maximum Hourly Wage $38.42
