What is the Role:

 

 

This is a senior role within the Enterprise Delivery organisation forming an integral part of the senior technical leadership, leading, and running the technical engineering and delivery aspects of all solutions within the domain.

 

They will oversee the technical work of 100+ staff, ensuring they are working to the highest technical standards, that designs are aligned to the Bank’s target architecture to ensure we deliver exceptional customer outcomes.

 

The successful candidate will be accountable for shaping, evolving, and implementing AIB’s new and modern engineering strategy. This strategy underpins AIB’s ambition to dramatically accelerate the development and delivery of new business services, while bringing significant new “on demand” capability to AIB’s technology toolset in the implementation of leading-edge modern engineering best practice centred around customer needs.

 

The role holder will lead the technical design of effective business solutions, leveraging leading-edge technologies such as development pipelines, app design and API functional design incorporating expected performance design. The role holder will also have accountability for defining, implementing and evolving AIBs runtime service when operating in a hybrid cloud compute model which will significantly augment AIB’s overall technology capability through immediate access to world class technology capabilities with inherently high levels of security, scalability and resilience that will ultimately enable the achievement of the objectives of AIB’s current business strategy.

 

 

Key accountabilities;

 

  • Accountable for shaping, driving, and implementing AIB’s technical strategy for the key strategic change priorities of the bank impacting their domain. This will involve responsibility for defining the new capabilities and new engineering patterns to deliver the required outcomes across 100+ technology staff in the impacted Tribes.
  • Accountable for the definition, implementation, oversight of the deep technical design of the large scale technical initiatives underway in their Tribe, which include strategic, regulatory, and business driven priorities.
  • Be accountable for the technical design of changes and upgrades on all impacted platforms and drive to maximise the level of automation in the delivery of these changes, with clear view as to how the platforms under their management deliver consistent levels for performance.
  • Accountability for shaping, driving, and implementing the Banks technical strategy which includes use of Cloud, ODS, API’s and Application tech design. This will involve responsibility for building out new capabilities and new engineering patterns to deliver on all the above across all Enterprise Delivery  teams, while leveraging automated pipelines for technology infrastructure provisioning and system changes.
  • Technical oversight of all key platforms and strategic vendor engagements to optimise the value for the organisation and our customers.
  • Leadership and development of a high performing engineering and design expertise to deliver the solution in partnership with the impacted business areas.
  • Influence business cases from a technical/design perspective, accountable for the end state performance of the solution.
  • Be accountable for the technical design of changes and upgrades on all impacted platforms and drive to maximise the level of automation in the delivery of these changes.
  • Establish and work with system integration partnerships to ensure systems and procedures are in line with security standards and compliance regulations and can stand up to regular audits and reviews.
  • Lead engagements with other Technology areas and build strong working relationships with key senior stakeholders, to actively build positive collaboration and trust across Enterprise Delivery SMT and the COO while providing strategic technology advice to key AIB senior business leaders and SMTs through fora such as TDAC

 

 

 

 

What you Will Bring ;

 

  • Excellent knowledge of application development and modern engineering gained over a significant number of years related career experience.
  • A significant number of years at senior level leading and developing technical staff and cross-functional teams with a record of successfully designing and driving change, setting priorities & executing plans.
  • Demonstrated experience in the establishment, implementation and assurance of standards and practices pertaining to application design and delivery, provisioning services and automation, including technical configuration, security, service integrity and service resilience.
  • Strong experience in cultivating technical innovation with experience in creating new and faster ways for the organisation to be successful
  • Proven Experience of navigating complex (matrix) organization structures and managing internal and external senior stakeholders
  • Strong collaboration skills with experience in building partnerships with senior stakeholders and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives.
  • The business acumen to identify business needs, evaluate emerging technology trends, determine policy implications, and advance potential solutions in cyber protection, technology deployment and infrastructure protection.
  • Strong, concise, accurate, and effective written and oral communications; must be able to communicate and coordinate with individuals across all levels of a financial institution.
