The Role

The Senior Engineer is a part of the Lumen Managed Services Network Technical Service Engineering team, specializing in operational support of Data Center, Networking (including Wireless,) Firewall and Application Distribution. This role provides designated or dedicated support for Lumen clients. The Senior Engineer provides subject matter expertise and will provide escalation and training for the network team. Responsibilities include technical assessments, standards validation, implementation, maintenance, project planning, technical documentation, training, technical support, troubleshooting and problem resolution. This hybrid position will provide on-site and remote technical support and expertise to a Lumen client with offices in Atlanta GA. You must reside within a commutable distance of this office campus.

The Main Responsibilities

  • Implement, Manage, and Support Lumen products and services with our Network and Managed Services offerings.
  • A solid background designing, managing, and troubleshooting diverse multi-protocol, switched and routed enterprise networks.
  • The candidate must be good at documentation in general. Competent with working with network diagrams using Microsoft Visio.
  • Ability to be able to troubleshoot network connectivity issues with both external and internal clients.
  • Heavy hands-on experience with multiple internetworking devices
  • Ability to use packet tracing technologies to troubleshoot network issues.
  • Strong knowledge of Application Delivery Platforms

What We Look For in a Candidate

  • Network protocols and understanding of data communications in business environment
  • Strong understanding on internet working technologies likes VLAN, VXLAN, STP, and Routing Protocol like EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, Static Routing,  route-redistribution,  summarization,  Policy-Routing, MPLS-based technologies, and Wifi
  • Working knowledge and understanding of network security, such as IPSEC tunnels, VPNs and firewalls
  • Understanding of network management; SNMP, Netflow, IPSLA, etc.
  • Extensive working knowledge for network services, such as HSRP, TFTP, SCP, SSH, HTTP, FTP, SMTP, DNS, NAT, etc.
  • Working knowledge of VOIP protocols and systems
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem analytical skill
  • Must have excellent team building and communication skills.
  • Using and interpreting packet captures
  • Provide ability to plan and organize work within a tight team oriented structure.
  • Some programing knowledge, ability to analyze scripts
  • Strong inter-personal, communication and organizational skills
  • Highly adaptable to shifting priorities, growth mindset

  • JNCIS-ENT or equivalent
  • JNCIS-Mist or equivalent
  • Enterprise & Core Routing and Switching Experience
  • Application Delivery and Load Balancing
  • WAN Optimization
  • Cloud Services (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Cloud integration)
  • Experience in planning, infrastructure assessment and migrations
  • Vendor Specific Expertise
  • Cisco switches and Routers: Cisco 4900, Cisco ASR 1002, Cisco 3750, Cisco 6500, Cisco 3800, Cisco 7600,
  • Nexus switches, Juniper switches
  • F5 (LTM, GTM, APM, etc.)
  • Fortinet Certified Professional (NSE 3, 4, 5, 6)

 

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • 6+ years hands on experience as a Network Engineer
  • BS degree or equivalent experience

Compensation

The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee’s primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual’s qualifications.

 

Location Based Pay Ranges

$84,740 – $112,980 in these states: GA 

 

As with the pay range variety that’s based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.
