This job is a member of the Mortgages team within the American Airlines Credit Union. The role is responsible for all second mortgage lending activity and supports the Business Services Team as needed with projects and daily tasks for the Credit Union.

What you’ll do

  • Manage team of loan officers and loan closers
  • Work directly with staff to ensure that loans are processed in a timely and efficient manner and closed in accordance with established Credit Union Guidelines
  • Handle escalated issues related to Home Equity processing
  • Hire and train new staff as well as coach for top performance, providing guidance, recommending and implementing training and development strategies
  • Process Credit Union employee loan requests
  • Perform data analysis and maintains daily, weekly and monthly production and funding reports
  • Provide recommendations for strategies and process improvements
  • Coordinate with Credit Union branch staff to ensure seamless production and quality member service
  • Assist in implementation and maintenance of Credit Union systems relevant to processing home equity loans, including Interaction Client, Symitar, Mortgage Cadence, and MeridianLink
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with vendors essential to home equity loan process
  • Participate in product development, business development and marketing strategies
  • Provide continual development of policy and procedures and assists in the development of new procedures and implementation of new technologies
  • Ensure timeliness and compliance with all applicable regulatory disclosures
  • Review invoices for accuracy and payment
  • Prepare timely and accurate HMDA reporting
  • Review and maintains state and county closing document requirements
  • Handle rate management
  • Support the Business Services Department as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • The selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring the security and confidentiality of all account and related information which is part of their work and for ensuring that his/her work is in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act.

All you’ll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum five years of mortgage lending experience; preferably specific to Home Equity loan origination and processing

 

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or a related area of study or equivalent home equity experience
  • Previous mortgage lending experience
  • Experience and knowledge of Episys
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience

 

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Skilled in Microsoft Office software (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) gained through either work experience with the software or education and hands-on use of the software
  • Ability to demonstrate strong leadership skills and proficiency in RESPA guidelines and department functions
  • Ability to demonstrate superior people management and employee engagement skills, to include directing, coaching, counseling and motivating staff
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent customer service skills and to communicate with all levels of staff and management, as well as members
  • Ability to perform in a fast paced environment, handle multiple tasks and function as an integral part of a team
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent oral and written communications skills & exercise effective interpersonal skills
  • Ability to demonstrate strong analytical and decision making skills
  • Ability to work varying schedules, including evenings and weekends
  • Ability to travel overnight as required
  • Ability to maintain satisfactory performance and attendance
  • Ability to pass applicable American Airlines and Credit Union pre-hire compliance checks
