  • This position is a key leader in our Product Management Center of Excellence for the Operations organization at American Airlines.  Our team’s objectives fall into four categories:
    • Supplying PO’s/PM’s – helping ensure product teams are staffed adequately, with high dedication, better spans of care, and expanded/standardized responsibilities
    • Equipping PO’s/PM’s – helping product teams operate at higher skill levels
    • Supporting PO’s/PM’s – reducing friction for product teams as the participate in broader product management processes, such as IT budgeting and transformation efforts
    • Supporting Ops Leaders – helping ensure Sr. Ops Leaders are better-informed, with more transparency, and better-positioned to make the right investment decisions
  • While not managing products directly, you will manage a small team of Product professionals who are dedicated to helping Product Owners and Leaders advance their levels of maturity with the Product Model
  • You will chart our strategy for evolving the Product model within the Ops organization, decide the priorities, and lead/influence the product teams to make those valuable next steps
  • You will champion our adoption of OKR’s and outcome-driven approaches, as well as helping ensure product teams employ data and analytics effectively
  • You will help maximize effectiveness of the partnerships between these product teams and IT

  • Oversees product life cycle of all products under his/her purview, from ideation to release
  • Oversees customer journey/lifecycle/experience across products 
  • Aids in program initiative prioritization that overlaps or has dependencies across product teams
  • Identifies and manages technical dependencies across a group of products 
  • Leads, mentors and coaches direct reports enabling further career growth and success
  • Influences stakeholders on priorities, OKRs and overall Product Group Strategy aligning to portfolio goals
  • Communicates regularly with various departments on OKRs, desired metrics, and areas requiring leadership’s attention 
  • Defines the team’s product objectives and key results in support of the Product Strategy 
  • Conducts competitive and market analysis, identifying trends and highlighting competitive differentiators 
  • Utilizes technical knowledge such as AI, A/B testing, product architecture, continuous deployment process, DevOps practices, data models and analytics, querying languages, tools supporting automation/metrics and other technologies in support of the products/services owned
  • Uses data to define baselines, measures outcomes, and shares insights
  • Proposes resolutions to customer problems, needs, challenges, and opportunities for the product
  • Anticipates and clears obstacles for product delivery within the group of owned products
  • Presents the thought process on product group strategy, roadmap items, OKRs and planned releases to leaders and peers
  • Influences and collaborates with stakeholders, peers, and other product leaders to deliver solutions that achieve the portfolio’s vision and goals 
  • Collaborates with various internal team members such as UX, Technology, Finance, Vendors, Risk, Compliance, Security, etc. 
  • Practices agility in discovering and delivering value continuously

All you’ll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field plus 7 years of applicable experience 
  • Experience working in a product model that promotes better customer experience
  • Experience leading a team 

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Master’s degree in related field with 7+ years of experience in Product Delivery
  • Experience determining Product Market fit and defining a Go-to-Market strategy
  • Experience with Agile Product Management tools

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Relevant certifications in Product Management/Product Delivery field.
  • Strong knowledge/expertise of product domain including the business model, constraints, regulations, user experiences, etc.
