Job Summary: Reporting to the Assistant Manager, Information Services the incumbent provides service to the public, meeting established Library strategic objectives and service standards. Demonstrates and models conduct that adheres to the library’s policies and procedures in accordance with the Library’s vision, mission and values. The incumbent is a paraprofessional member of the Information Services team who works collaboratively within the team and system wide to ensure service priorities are met.

 

Job Requirements:

Education/Qualifications:

  • Completion of an approved Library Technician Diploma program supplemented by courses in the use of computers.

Experience:

  • Some related experience in the provision of library services including programming, information services, working with the community and collection maintenance.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Considerable knowledge of paraprofessional library methods, procedures and tools applicable to the work
  • Working knowledge of the objectives, organization, procedures, services and resources of the Library
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to plan, organize and carry out assigned duties and responsibilities with supervision.
  • Ability to participate in the maintenance of the library collection.
  • Ability to assist patrons with electronic devices such as e-book readers, smart phones and library computers.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of applications including: Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook  
  • Ability to learn new technologies, applications & software, processes and skills.
  • Understanding of library services, collections, technologies and resources.
  • Strong commitment to serving clients; open, pragmatic and responsive to clients and community.

Employment Type: Temporary Part-Time until May 31st, 2025
Salary:  $27.98 to $32.87 per hour 

 

Work Schedules: 
Schedule 1 (20 hours per week)
Saturdays: 10:00am – 6:00pm (7 hrs)
Sundays: 11:00am – 6:00pm (6 hrs)
Thursdays: 12:30pm – 8:30pm (7 hrs)

 

Schedule 2 (20 hours per week)
Saturdays: 10:00am – 6:00pm (7 hrs)
Sundays: 11:00am – 6:00pm (6 hrs)
Tuesdays: 12:30pm – 8:30pm (7 hrs)
