This is a key position requiring 15+ years experience in RF communications hardware/software design and development. The position requires the ability to perform specification, design, simulation, and coding of RF communications-based digital signal processing algorithms. The position also requires significant experience with the design and proper layout of FPGA-based high speed (multi-gigabit) and high frequency (millimeter wave) mixed signal (digital, analog and RF) printed circuit boards for both ground and space applications. Experience with software defined radio design is also required.
Digital Signal Processing (DSP): Experience should include DSP filtering, signal demodulation/detection, FEC decoding, etc.
Must perform all or most of the following duties:
Design FIR, IIR, and frequency domain matched filters
Design FM, PM, AM, QAM, etc. modulators and demodulators including carrier recovery, where applicable.
Design forward error correction encoders/decoders of varying types including Viterbi, Reed Solomon, and Turbo codes.
Design signal acquisition algorithms for TDMA, FDMA and CDMA schemes
Develop algorithms and model and optimize algorithm performance. MATLAB experience preferred.
Compile and optimize DSP processor assembler code.
Test and measure compliance of embedded DSP algorithms using laboratory equipment.
RF Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Design:
Experience should include knowledge of proper design concepts to minimize noise and EMI/EMC. The candidate must be familiar with and proficient in at least one RF modeling tool, such as Genesys, Microwave Office and/or WIPL-D. In addition, the candidate should have experience selecting components, circuit design and layout of the following RF building blocks:
• Up/Down converters, mixers
• Phased Lock Loops
• A Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) and 15 or more years or related experience is required.
• Top Secret Clearance Required.
