Summary:

The SIPS Test Engineer Lead will support integration and test activities for NASA’s ICESat-2 Ground System. The focus will be on the Science Investigator-led Processing System (SIPS) which is the science algorithm processing component for the ICESat-2 mission and is comprised of the SIPS software, as well as the SIPS Scheduling and Data Management System (SDMS) and ATLAS Science Algorithm Software (ASAS). The person selected for this position will lead the development of strategies for testing the SIPS software as it is deployed into the Integration and Test, Acceptance Test, and Operations environments. Test management responsibilities include test planning, procedure development, test execution and reporting. Test management responsibilities will include oversight of all phases of the testing cycle from unit testing through end to end testing and transition to operations.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

• Develop test and integration plans, present at project reviews
• Plan tests and schedule all resources required for supporting the tests
• Maintain test schedule
• Develop test procedures
• Maintain configuration control of all test items
• Conduct Test Readiness Reviews
• Conduct tests as the Test Director, conduct test debriefs and generate Quick Look Reports
• Generate and manage discrepancy reports
• Develop Final Test reports
• Present at the ORR.

Must have experience in the test and integration of space and ground systems. This experience should include requirements analysis and verification focused on test planning and execution in an operational or near-operational environment. The ability to understand the necessity for crafting and executing test procedures specific to requirements (Level 5, Level 4, etc.) is a must. This position also requires expertise in collecting, manipulating and interpreting test data. Excellent oral and written communication skills and understanding of communications protocols is required.

Other Desired Skills:

• Experience with NASA policies (NPR 7120) and procedures regarding project life cycles, software development, and systems engineering.
• Experience with database tools, requirements management and system architecture tools.
• Experience with the NASA communications networks
• Experience with testing methodologies and test planning
• Knowledge of space data handling standards, including CCSDS
• V&V experience
• MS Office products (Word, Power Point, Excel, Project) experience

Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or related discipline. Minimum of 10 years’ related experience.
