Orbital ATK is currently seeking an experienced Manager of Risk Management to provide leadership to our Treasury team in our Dulles offices.

Role description & Responsibilities:

Assists in overseeing the strategic planning, development and administration of all Orbital ATK insurance and risk management programs. This role is responsible for managing the company’s insurance policies related to aviation liability, casualty, workers compensation, executive liability, pollution, property and marine/transit including claims. This position provides important assistance in the administration and management of space insurance.

This position is responsible for managing relationships with several third party service providers including brokers, insurers, TPAs and other consultants. This position prepares loss analyses and budgets, identifies exposures, recommends solutions, implements approved programs, promotes loss prevention, updates and monitors compliance with insurance procedures, supports business units with risk management reports, training, and contract and proposal analysis and recommendations.

Risk Identification and Evaluation: Develops, implements and manages efficient and effective processes to continuously identify and evaluate risk across the company’s businesses and operations. Builds strong relationships with executives, operational and finance teams across business units to create a proactive risk identification process and to understand and evaluate new business opportunities and developments.

Operate and enhance a Risk Management Information System (RMIS) for business units to use. Analyze RMIS data and create reports. Collect underwriting information from RMIS and other sources, create and deliver underwriting presentations.

Prepare budgets and premium allocations. Coordinate with accounting, government compliance and other departments to ensure proper capture and accounting for insurance related costs.

Prepare risk assessments on potential new business to identify associated risks and determine the most appropriate financing and control techniques to mitigate those risks.

Manage claims through oversight of a TPA, broker or directly. Well versed in Property, Workers Compensation, General and Auto Liability claims handling with an aim to minimize losses.

Continually review industry developments to ensure that the company maintains sound insurance coverage at cost effective rates. Review and recommend insurance coverage and limits based upon risk analysis and market trends, and continually review insurance criteria for consultants, contractors, joint ventures, lease agreements and acquisitions.

Prepare risk management, loss and cost reports for use by executive management; develop procedures and policies regarding insurance and make recommendations for the adoption of such policies.

Collaborate with Safety & Environmental Compliance for general loss prevention including fire inspection of properties, pollution liability sites, and worker safety.

Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally

Experience Requirements:

• Seven years of risk management related experience
• Must possess a working knowledge of and experience with relevant insurance types, claims adjustment processes, and risk evaluation
• Microsoft Office and Outlook with particular emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint
• Risk Management Information Systems
• Ability to assess and address relevant commercial and government contract clauses
• This role interacts with internal and external stakeholders at all levels. The ability to articulate messages and develop presentations is an important attribute.

Experience Preferred:

• Experience in publicly traded manufacturing firms
• Aviation insurance
• Government contracting

Education/Certifications:

• A Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) in Risk Management, Business, Finance or equivalent degree is required
• CPCU, ARM, Certified Risk Manager or other relevant credentials preferred
