Engineering Manager

Will be responsible for leading a Market Segment Engineering Team. Each market segment is supported by a team of Engineering and Mission Assurance professionals who sustain and improve processes and products as measured by customer satisfaction, safe execution, process improvements, quality consistency, design compliance, and product performance.

While reporting directly to the Small Caliber Systems Director of Engineering, the engineering team manager will support one of the primary Market Segments under the Small Caliber Systems Division. This will include a matrix reporting line to the Market Segment Director. Subcomponents (pyro mix, explosive synthesis, primers, links, forged parts) and 5.56mm Ammunition are the primary focus of one Market Segment. 7.62mm & .50caliber Ammunition are the primary focus of the other Market Segment at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant in Independence, Missouri..

Engineering functional ownership within the Market Segment includes Process Engineering, Quality Engineering, Automation & Controls Engineering, Customer and Technical Interfaces. This position will directly supervise subordinate department managers as well as one or more senior level technical contributors.

Minimum Requirements:

• BS, 4-year technical degree
• 5 years work experience in a manufacturing environment
• Prior experience leading technical or operations teams

Job duties will include:

• Advocate a safe and professional work environment
• Partner with customers to achieve goals and deliver to technical requirements
• Participate in development of Market Segment strategies, objectives, and long-term goals
• Coaching and Development for technical resources. Includes planning and recruiting to maintain alignment of technical team with business objectives.
• Leading cross functional teams in resolving complex technical issues (product and processes)
• Participate in capital management, make/buy decision processes
• Lead improvement to process control and lead variation reduction initiatives
• Partner with Operations and Program Mgmt counterparts to execute program requirements to performance, cost and schedule objective
