Orbital ATK employs students from a variety of disciplines, including technical and engineering fields. College students may receive hands-on projects involved with such areas as the design, build and support work on space systems that support scientific missions to study near-earth and other space environments, and to advance new technologies. During these internships, a major project will be assigned and/or many discrete opportunities will be available. In many cases, internships serve as a potential stepping stone to full time employment.

Orbital ATK is currently looking to fill an intern position to support our Financial team in the San Diego, California facility of our Space Components Division, which specializes in space deployables such as solar arrays and instrument booms. While working as a summer intern for Orbital ATK – San Diego you will be given the opportunity to learn/strengthen the following skills in a professional environment.

Position Duties & Description

• Program cost control and forecasting and analysis on a variety of small, medium and/or large-sized fixed-price and/or cost-type spacecraft programs.
• Monitor and report on program funding to ensure that limits are not exceeded.
• Partner with program management to prepare monthly Estimate-At-Complete analysis.
• Support preparation of ad-hoc business segment analysis that will be required for site reviews.
• Support internal and external audits of program.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Competency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
• Experience and success in working within teams
• Ability to analyze data, develop options, and communicate recommendations to program and senior management teams.
• Self-starter, motivated to make improvements, and ability to achieve results with very little guidance.
• Ability to prioritize and stay organized within a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• High degree of attention to detail and level of accuracy required
