Summary:

Successful candidates for this position will work in a technical role for one of the programs in the Space Systems Group at Orbital ATK. This position offers the opportunity to work on an exciting space flight program.

Duties include contributing to the general mission or space vehicle systems engineering activities. This may include requirements flow down, tracking, verification, and the writing of complex specifications, interface control documents, and engineering reports from advanced studies, special engineering investigations, and similar activities. Tasks may also include harness interface design, Command and Telemetry database development, and space vehicle configuration modeling. The candidate must be knowledgeable in aerospace systems, spacecraft subsystems design, or mission operations. Advanced modeling & analyses relating to mission and technical problems may be required in support of development or mission operations teams. Position will also include responsibilities relating to integration, testing, and operational readiness of spacecraft and payloads. Candidate may be called on to assist in new business activities such as conceptual design and analysis for proposals and funded studies and may include authoring sections for both.

Desired experience includes Requirements Management Tools such as DOORS, Cradle, or CORE, and various analysis engineering tools such as MATLAB, MATHCAD, and STK. Actual spacecraft operations and related ground systems expertise is always a plus. Additional experience in any of the following areas is also desired: orbital mechanics, power systems modeling, avionics or digital electronics design, telecommunications design, risk analysis, thermal engineering, or integration and testing (either at the spacecraft or payload level).

Required Qualifications:

EDUCATION
Must have a Bachelors degree or higher in an Engineering or related field.

EXPERIENCE
0 to 2 years experience in aerospace systems or similar field.

Candidate Must Possess the Following Skills:
– Ability to work in support of a system engineering team
– High learning agility for addressing a wide variety of complex analytical tasks
– Good written and verbal communications skills

Preferred Qualifications:

– Experience with system engineering requirement tools (Cradle, CORE or DOORS) and processes
– Experience in requirements development and management processes
– Experience in development and maintenance of interface control documents and related processes
– Experience in space system testing, evaluation and verification (flight and ground testing)
– Experience with various technical analysis tools such as MATLAB and STK
– Experience in any of the following areas is also desired: orbital mechanics, orbital debris modeling, spacecraft attitude control, power systems and modeling, avionics or digital electronics design, risk analysis, optics, communications, rocket propulsion, thermal engineering, or spacecraft integration and testing

– TS/SSBI desired for certain positions
