Role Details
The Transport Manager role has the primary responsibility for all matters relating to Transport within Accolade, including the management of the annual freight budget – circa $34 million.
Working closely within the SC&OP team and across wineries and winemaking; Accolade’s commercial teams; and 3rd party providers – the Transport Manager will manage a broad range of tasks to ensure costs are managed in line with budget and any opportunities for network optimisation are identified and implemented. Periodic tender management and negotiations also form part of the role.
There is an emphasis on process, continuous improvement, problem solving and systems knowledge to exceed service metrics. Additionally, there is a compliance requirement to ensure all internal stakeholders and 3rd party service providers remain compliant with Chain Of Responsibility (COR) requirements.
The Transport Manager role is also responsible for reporting and analysis to identify and contribute to value creation opportunities and network review and design, including route to market assessment.
Your Key Accountabilities
• Primary function: Principal contact for all Transport matters, including network service issues and opportunities, as well as costs against the annual freight budget
o Liaising with internal and external stakeholders in a timely manner to ensure DIFOT and stock availability is maximised
• Procurement of ad hoc / additional transport capacity, as required, to meet business demands and control costs in line with budget
• Creating and maintaining contingency plans for network issues and proactively addressing capacity shortfalls – including provision of cost-benefit analysis to validate decision making
• Maintenance and simplification of rate schedules and master data indexes, including timely communication of material changes to service costs and negative trends, as well as the maintenance of any TMS / load-building platforms
• Coordinating bulk wine movements and exploring opportunities for cost savings and network optimisation with winemaking and winery operations
• Major supply chain partner(s) reporting and performance monitoring against key metrics and Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
• Non-conformance reports (NCRs) and follow ups with 3PLs and transport providers – including communication of resolutions and action plans to avoid future incidents, adverse impacts on service levels and potential quality issues
• Chain of Responsibility (COR)
o basic cross-functional training around legislative requirements within Logistics and Operations and reporting to HSE
o annual audits of supply chain partners against legislative requirements and COR obligations – including ongoing review of Accolade’s policies and understanding of obligations as participants within the supply chain
• Customer engagement to ensure DC inbound capacity and flexibility is maximised

Essential Qualifications
• Relevant degree / vocational certificate / diploma, or experience in Logistics / Supply Chain would be desirable.
• Previous experience in a Transport business, FMCG, supply chain or the wine / beverage industry is essential
• Chain of Responsibility including mass management (and permits), load restraint and fatigue management principles
• Experience in using JDE or similar ERP / CTRM system
• Contract negotiations and tenders
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment would be viewed favourably
• Budgeting and costing
Physical and Other Requirements
• Some out of hours work will be required
• Travel within South Australia and interstate required
