About the Role:

 

Our VAT team is part of the AIB Group Tax team of 16.  It is a small team of experienced VAT professionals who guide the business, direct and manage the value added tax affairs of the Group, ensuring full compliance in all jurisdictions while delivering VAT efficiency in the Group’s processes and transactions in a responsible manner.

 

Key Responsibilities Include:

 

  • Providing a comprehensive and pro-active Irish and UK VAT advisory and planning service to the AIB Group.
  • Meeting with key personnel in the business units to ensure that both business needs and VAT obligations are being fully met.
  • As part of the Tax Risk Framework, developing and maintaining a detailed understanding of end-to-end processes relating to VAT and the associated risks, and challenge the design and operating effectiveness of controls.
  • Advise the Tax Reporting team who prepare and submit the Irish and UK VAT returns for the AIB Group.
  • Professional tax qualification (Irish Taxation Institute or equivalent).

  • A professional tax qualification is required
  • Knowledge and experience of VAT issues of relevance to a banking group.
  • Ability to analyse and assess a tax position.
  • Ability to provide advice and guidance to business areas on VAT matters.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration approach.
  • Ability to communicate and influence.
  • Problem solving & decision making capabilities.
