Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

This position will report directly to the Regional Security Manger to foster a proactive and productive approach that addresses security matters at the site level. This position will assist in the development, implementation, and management of the strategic and tactical planning for the site’s security services and support.

Responsibilities:

  • Address all aspects of security for the facility, including; physical security, traveler security, investigations, information security, security education and training, contingency planning, crisis management, and executive protection.
  • Supervise a team of Corning and/or contingent security officers with oversight of performance, payroll/invoicing, training, team building and other plant responsibilities.
  • Maintain a working relationship with the contract security provider and leadership on hiring needs, performance and expectations of security officer requirements.
  • Establish and maintain a solid partnership with site leadership, with focus on the organizational strategies of both Global Security and the facility.
  • Support investigative matters with initial fact finding and ongoing action through partnership with Security Operations, CGS Investigations Team and facility leadership.
  • Attend facility project meetings, provide security guidance and coordination of technical/ vendor support with the Corning Global Security Service Delivery Team.
  • Assist with and participate in the development and implementation of a site-specific security plan that assesses current threats and vulnerabilities. Identifies protection goals, objectives, and metrics.
  • Works with various local, state and federal public sector agencies to maintain important and close relationships with law enforcement, as well as private sector counterparts. Be the primary liaison between the facility and government law enforcement entities.
  • Briefs Regional Security Manager and facility leaders on the status of security issues.
  • Other tasks as may be assigned during duty in areas of responsibility.

Travel Requirements: <10%

Work Hours: Standard business hours (M-F), with flexibility to support a 24/7 operation when needed

Required Experience & Skills:

  • Associates Degree required
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of corporate security, federal / state law enforcement or military experience is required.
  • Must have knowledge of law enforcement and criminal investigation techniques.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the corporation.
  • Ability to manage and deliver on multiple priorities.
  • Must be fluent in English
  • Must be a skilled interviewer, detail oriented, and be a good communicator in person and in writing.
  • Good technical skills and the ability to use a computer as a tool (Microsoft Office Tools) are required.
  • This role requires the utmost confidentiality and the willingness to work extra hours at times.
  • Must be able to work independently and be self-motivated.
  • Must demonstrate sound professional judgment and decision-making capabilities at all times.
  • Will maintain strict confidentiality and share information on a need to know basis only.

Preferred Requirements & Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
  • Prior leadership / supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience in a corporate security function is a plus.
  • Project Management experience preferred.
  • ASIS CPP or PSP certification preferred.
