This position is responsible for providing 24/7 coverage in a steam boiler plant consisting of three (3) high temperature hot boilers (HTHW), each of which is rated for a maximum heat input rate of 15.75 MMBTU/HR, burning natural gas.  This position holder ensures that the boiler room is maintained in an orderly and efficient manner by oiling, checking, clearing, and making minor adjustments as directed, as well as assisting/performing with major and minor maintenance.  In addition, you will also have the following duties and responsibilities:  operating a computer controlled monitoring system to ensure effective utilization of equipment, removal of plugs or assemblies from the tube ends for the purpose of cleaning scale and other residue from the inside tubes, remove scale from the furnace, add chemicals as needed to reduce the amount of slag and other residue, which accumulates in the boiler tubes.
