About this role:

Our team in Arden Hills, MN is searching for a Senior Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor to join their Batteries Manufacturing team. This role will have direct responsibility for our 2nd and 3rd shift technician team along with mentorship for the engineering staff. The primary focus will be on technician systems, team development, continuous improvement projects and safety opportunities. This individual will devote a significant portion of time contributing to the technical responsibilities of the department, which may include hands on support to maintain team metrics.

 

This role will support our 2nd and 3rd shift technician team, primarily working the hours of ~11A – 7P, M – F. The supervisor will have the ability to determine how they will flex their hours on-site to best support the team. This will be discussed further in the interview process.

 

Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Provides guidance and training to staff, developing their team to attain career goals, motivating individuals to achieve results, and recruiting and maintaining a high-quality staff.
  • Drives cross training amongst the technician team
  • Works with manager to establish department goals, objectives, and budgets.
  • Assists manager to plan resource needs and hiring for department.
  • Prioritizes and manages execution of multiple projects.
  • Successfully completes manufacturing engineering project work on Value Improvement Process (VIP), Strategic Activity Review (STAR) projects, or new product development.
  • Maintains and enhances cross-functional team relationships.
  • Works cross-functionally in identifying and resolving production/engineering issues.
  • Ensures all policies and processes are followed.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline 
  • 3+ years of manufacturing, or related, experience
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing problem solving and process improvement tools (i.e. DMAIC) and production flow tools (i.e. LEAN manufacturing)
  • Ability to communicate effectively by analyzing, summarizing, and presenting ideas concisely via visual communication methods (i.e. tables, graphs, Excel, Minitab, and PowerPoint)

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the medical device industry
  • Experience leading technical teams (technicians and/or engineers)
  • Hands-on technical/mechanical experience and aptitude
  • Demonstrated leadership of problem solving in a manufacturing support role
