Job Summary

OPEN APPLICATION 

 

We are looking for hourly paid RESEARCH ASSISTANTS/ LABORATORY TECHNICIANS to join our Laboratory Sciences (LS) and In Vivo (IV) units at our Kuopio office. 

 

Main duties and responsibilities

 

–    performs practical laboratory work
–    receiving, processing and formulation of test substances (LS)
–    performs biochemical well plate measurements, as well as histological methods (LS)
–    daily care and maintenance of animals (IV)
–    performs research techniques in laboratory animals in models of CNS (Central Nervous System) disease, such as dosing, behavioral tests, collection, and handling of tissue samples (IV)
–    participates in the preparation, data collection, documentation and input of measurements as needed for the experiment 
–    other support functions of the unit and assistance in other tasks as needed 

Job Qualifications

 

–    suitable qualifications acquired through vocational training, such as laboratory technician or bio analyst 
–    previous experience in solution preparation, laboratory equipment, biochemical measurements or histological methods is considered an advantage (LS)
–    experience in laboratory animal work and research technical tasks, such as laboratory animal care, dosing, or behavioral testing (IV)
–    basic computer skills, e.g., Microsoft Office software 
–    good oral and written English skills are considered an advantage 
–    effective teamwork and active communication essential
