Plating Technician – Waste Water Treatment Coordinator


Starting pay: $22.41 / hour



The Plating Technician – Waste Water Coordinator will initiate operations in accordance with customer requirements and monitor performance top optimize production processes. The Plating Technician will be expected to learn multiple areas in and around chemicals, testing, monitoring and adjusting in accordance with Franklin City Permit 003 and chrome electroplating techniques.


  • Must be able to read and work from a production schedule
  • Mechanically inclined and able to use basic hand tools
  • Must be a self-starter and be capable of working independently and as a team member
  • Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Will be required to participate in continued education and training sesions, as job requires
  • Must be capable of maintaining the higher production rates associated with automatic equipment while maintaining APCOM’s quality standards
  • Will be able to use APCOM’s computer system to obtain necessary production information
  • Must be capable of understanding and practicing the safety requirements of equipment and assuming the safety of self and others around the equipment
  • Be able to follow work instructions for all operations in the Plating department
  • Ensure that the plated parts meet quality standards
  • Must be able to lift approximately 50 lbs. at a time
  • Must be capable of walking, standing, sitting throughout entire shift as job requires. Comply with all the safety, quality, and procedurre requirements as noted in the applicable Work Instruction
  • Other duties as assigned

Check levels of:

  • Hydrated lime tank and make additives if needed
  • Magnafloc Tank and make additives if needed
  • Sulfuric Acid Drum and make sure there is enough for entire shift
  • Sludge Tank and make sludge cakes through the filter press

Should be able to perform the following:

  • HACH test
  • Plating thickness test
  • Clean machines and Vent boxes
  • Add zinc balls
  • Perform pH testing throughout the shift and adjust as required for compliance
  • Perform Zinc testing throughout the shift and adjust as required for compliance
  • Able to perform tank transfers, adjustments as needed to remain in compliance 
  • Clean and replace plating bath filters
  • Perform Titration and analysis of Chromate, Plating Baths, Electro-Cleaning, Brightener and Acid Cleaning Tanks
  • Maintain regular scheduled cleaning of rinse tanks and soap tanks in accordance with proscribed maintenance schedule



Ability to comprehend schedule and required outputs for daily production activities

Ability to comprehend applicable work instructions

Ability to work with key members of other functional areas to facilitate daily production

Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, and as part of a team

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Basic understanding of checmicals

Understanding of GHS

Be able to tolerate heat and cold

Have excellent documentation skills

High school diploma or equivalent preferred
