Description of Position:

Pharmacy Technician Certification Required

Travel: 1-25%

 

The incumbent in this position assists the registered pharmacists in the performance of their legal responsibilities and authority as outlined in the Florida Pharmacy Law, (Chapter 465, and Florida Statutes).  Incumbent must obtain a pharmacy technician certification, issued by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board, within three months of job appointment.  The incumbent in this position completes work assignments and responsibilities in a timely manner with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.    

    

Responsible for collecting, reviewing, and performing data entry of prescription orders for County Health Department and other health care entity client medications; patient medical profiles (including allergy/drug interactions) complete client information and prescriber address and phone numbers.  Under the supervision of the pharmacist, assists with generating appropriate logs, product information and prescription reports for review.  Assists Pharmacist’s within the department programs by labeling product, ensuring product expiration dating; medication inserts; processing paperwork and preparation of CHD’s product shipments; may assist with client enrollment in the specific Program’s for medications; as needed performs daily computer backup of pharmacy system. Assist in the Nurse Issuance Program as needed.    

 

Assists with the preparation/maintenance of spreadsheets and correspondence for product utilization to determine allocations for Department Drug Program.  As needed develops data and statistics for activities for the department programs.

 

Assists with updating and maintaining CHD and other health care entity programs contacts phone lists and mailing addresses and program procedures; Responsible for assisting with maintaining residential delivery program and file system; maintains program log books, creates and generates reports; responsible for maintaining Programs filing system; active participation with Central Pharmacy’s Continuous Quality Improvement Committee; Participates in Central Pharmacy’s monthly inventory.     

 

Performs other related duties as requested.

Ability to follow deadlines, good analytical skills, ability to work in team and coordinate among co-workers.

The incumbent shall obtain and maintain yearly certification of Good Manufacturing Practices Training. Microsoft Word, Excel and People First.

Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency.  Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.
