Job Summary

This hands-on Network Engineer position will serve as part of the Compass Group North America M&A team, providing oversight, coordination, and delivering the activities supporting successful integration of network platforms into the Compass Group network platform.  The Network Engineer position is responsible for the ongoing configuration and support of the organization’s network infrastructure that powers the wired, wireless, and VoIP needs of the corporate campus and remote offices.  They are charged with deploying, configuring, and maintaining enterprise level networks to support data communications.

The Network Engineer works as a member of the Network Services team and is charged to understand the goals/objectives of that team and how it supports those of the Enterprise Architecture and Shared Services Technology division.
 

Essential Job Functions

 

  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for core networking technologies such as routing, switching, firewall, and wireless. 
  • Responsible for the operational stability of our LAN, WAN, and wireless networking infrastructure to achieve targeted uptime and reliability.
  •  Monitor the health of all networking devices and WAN/Internet circuits leveraging tools like SolarWinds for automated alerting and reports.  
  • Actively monitor security threats with internal and external tools and deploy appropriate security measures in accordance with established change management processes.
  • Perform backup and restore testing/validation weekly/monthly/quarterly.
  • Provide tier 2 support for incidents related to any technology owned and supported by the Network Services group. 
     

Job Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or combination of education and experience.
  • Cisco or equivalent network certification (CCNA) highly preferred. 
  • Typically, 2-5 years of experience
  • Cisco Catalyst and Meraki network management.
  • Firewall configuration and management, Cisco ASA and/or FirePower NGFW preferred
  • SD-WAN technologies including Meraki.
  • Network principals including EIGRP, OSPF, DNS, and NAT. 
  • Understanding of general security concepts and protocols such as IPSec, SSL/TLS, IDS/IPS, WAF and DDoS protection. 
  • Network monitoring tools such as Solarwinds. 
  • VoIP communications and unified communications management experience.
  • Knowledge of cloud and hybrid cloud networks.
