Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Scope of Position:
Serve as the key point of contact for shift operations on a 24X7 schedule as it relates to safety, quality and productivity.

Day to Day Responsibilities:
• A role model for safety – walks the talk on safety – leads and facilitates the team to world class, day-to-day, safety performance
• Provides supervision  and facilitation to a team of technicians responsible for the manufacture of preforms and/or optical fiber
• Understands and applies established guidelines, procedures and policies
• Provides immediate supervision to subordinates to execute operations
• Provides daily feedback on individual and team performance
• Prepares and provides reports to supervisory chain
• Coordinates daily activities of team and support organizations
• Conduct hourly/direct labor employee performance reviews and provide coaching as needed.
• Ensure team executes documented operating procedures and follows established document control protocols.
• Ensure the protection of Corning's Intellectual Property (IP)
• Implement and monitor training and certification plans.
• Hold reports accountable for adherence to established procedures and set points for process control; ensures awareness and compliance to changes.

Travel Requirements:
• Less than 5%

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:
• 12 hours – rotate with assigned shift. Will need to work both day and night shifts as part of rotation.
• 4 days on one week – 3 on the other

Required Education:
• BS degree (Eng highly preferred) or equivalent manufacturing leadership experience

Required Years and Area of Experience:
• 2 years of manufacturing exposure/experience
