Project Overview:
Bechtel is seeking to work with a major Indian corporation to provide Project Management Consultant (PMC) Services for a multi-billion dollar renewables and its infrastructure project in India. The PMC Services will be led out of India with personnel deployed in Mumbai region. This position will start as an assignment in Mumbai, India (office) and after the full notice to proceed from the Owner, the site specific position will eventually transition to the job site for the execution of the project.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will work with the project team, customer and designated contractors to prepare schedule data. You will be instrumental in ensuring projects stay on track and on time. You will help contractors to perform schedule integrations, prepare work logic, identify restraints and potential impacts, develop recovery plans, and evaluate schedules for improvements.
Major Responsibilities:
Level 1
- Prepares schedule data for proposals or contract negotiations.
- Establishes and maintains the schedule for a specific discipline area or specialty.
- Performs schedule development duties to include establishing the work breakdown structure (WBS), determining the work activity duration, establishing the proper workflow logic ties, and developing the required job expenditure.
- Performs schedule monitoring, including identifying critical activities and updating functions for specific applications, disciplines, or specialties.
- Develops critical path schedule reports and schedule performance metrics.
- Determines critical-path activities for assigned discipline or specialty work activities supporting interdisciplinary requirements.
- Identifies and reports activities that have a critical or potential impact on the schedule.
- Monitors and validates subcontractor schedules.
- Evaluates subcontractor schedules for required workarounds or potential schedule improvements.
Level 2
- Applies established unit job hour and pricing data for a specific discipline or other specialty including estimating parameters, factors, indices, productivity, and craft distribution reference data.
- Performs integration of individual schedules into the total project plan.
- Prepares performing organization’s work logic in support of overall project schedule.
- Performs schedule resource loading and leveling.
- Maintains open communications with other organizations to support schedule maintenance and reporting.
- Identifies schedule restraints.
- Develops schedule recovery plans.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Level 1
- Requires bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 8 -10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
Level 2
- Requires bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Experience of working as PMC or consultant on EPC projects of similar nature or working with PMC in the role of EPC contractor.
- Skilled in oral and written communication.
- Experience in performing, monitoring, and reviewing planning and scheduling functions, which include schedule development, control, and analysis, in the field and the home office.
- Knowledge of supervision, personnel administration, and training of technical and non-technical personnel.
- Advanced level of knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup work processes, as performed by Bechtel.
- Knowledge of engineering and construction management customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, direct, perform, review, and present schedule products independently with minimal supervision. This includes using a high level of professional judgement and knowledge related to technical planning and scheduling skills and engineering design, construction, and procurement practices.
- Skilled in understanding technical processes, engineering drawings, quantity determinations, and mathematical and financial reports.
- Proficiency with PC operating systems, with proficiency in several software applications. Proficiency with multiple discipline-specific software applications currently used in Bechtel (Microsoft Office Applications, for example).
