To oversee implementation of the Entergy Nuclear South Inservice Testing program and ensure component and pump testing is executed in accordance with required ASME Code and Regulatory requirements.
Responsible for overall oversight and implementation of the Inservice Testing (IST) Code Program for Entergy at their four southern nuclear sites. This position is at the Entergy Nuclear corporate office in Jackson MS. The corporate IST engineer will interface regularly with the site IST engineers who will be overseeing the day-to-day program responsibilities at the sites.
The engineer being hired for this position will be ensuring that the required code and owner elected testing on mechanical equipment such as valves and pumps is implemented in accordance with the applicable ASME codes and standards and Regulatory requirements. This individual should have knowledge of the ASME O&M code. While Program Owner experience is preferred, Mechanical Design Engineers familiar with pump and valve design or Operations personnel familiar with pump and valve testing would also be good candidates for this position.
The engineer in this position would be responsible various activities, including the following, for the following at the four Southern Entergy nuclear sites:
• Provide oversight of program including leading benchmarking and assessments
• Generating the IST outage scope for the sites and interface with the sites during outages to resolve plant issues
• Interface with the regulatory agencies as required and generate relief requests
• Strive to standardize and streamline the sites to ensure consistent program implementation
• Identify and resolve fleet program issues
• Attend ASME OM code committees and strive to become a committee member and industry leader
• Plan and implement special projects to improve the program or meet code requirements
• Identify and communicate applicable OE to fleet. The engineer would also ensure fleet lessons/operational experiences and good practices are reviewed and shared uniformly among applicable Entergy sites.
Unescorted Nuclear Plant Access and travel to the nuclear power plants is a requirement of the position.
Good communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary. The position will require about 25% travel and travel is not typically more than 1 week away from the office at a time.
Minimum education required of the position
B.S. Degree in Engineering from an accredited engineering curriculum or graduate of an accredited engineering technology curriculum of accepted standing or equivalent work experience.
Minimum experience required of the position
If not a graduate of the aforementioned nature (B.S. degree in Engineering from an accredited engineering curriculum or graduate of an accredited engineering technology curriculum of accepted standing), a minimum of 6 years engineering experience indicative of growth in engineering competency and achievement required. Work experience of 0 – 5 years in nuclear code programs or equivalent experience in operations or system engineering.
Engineer II: 2 – 4 years experience in nuclear power design, operations, or equivalent, depending upon engineering level
Engineer III: 3 – 5 years experience in nuclear power design, operations, or equivalent, depending upon engineering level
Engineer Sr: 4 – 6 years experience in nuclear power design, operations, or equivalent, depending upon engineering level
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position
Knowledgeable in code program requirements for nuclear power plants. Technical understanding of nuclear generation principles and operation. Outstanding communication, conflict management, and change management skills. Must have strong written and oral communication skills. Must be skilled in the use of Microsoft desktop software. Knowledgeable of probabilistic risk analysis methods. Skilled at system analysis.
