Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Major Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and optimize the Corning Optical Communications (COC) Optical Connectivity Solutions (OCS) division APAC contract manufacturing operations
  • Define and execute the APAC contract manufacturing roadmap with a key focus on the attainment of year over year quality, delivery, cost, and cash (inventory) improvement
  • Deliver successful operational performance of the supply base (including an understanding of the demand profile for each product line), and interface across functional, business, and regional leadership
  • Exhibit strong indirect leadership by working proactively with cross-functional teams to improve customer satisfaction and contract manufacturing performance
  • Leverage contract manufacturing capability to quickly and cost effectively drive new revenue opportunities defined by the business
  • Lead the APAC contract manufacturing supply chain organization
  • Collaborate with Global Supply Management (GSM) to optimize the contract manufacturing landscape through consolidation or expansion
  • Deliver contract manufacturing solutions by conducting ongoing assessments of internal vs. external manufacturing options with regional supply chain
  • Achieve operational excellence through the utilization of performance excellence and regional engineering and supply chain resources to drive quality, delivery, cost, and cash (inventory) improvements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the strategy via a clearly defined and resourced project portfolio
  • Develop and implement operating plans that meet key performance objectives
  • Propose, create (or elevate) lean, end-to-end value chains by optimizing across functions
  • Establish and resource regional Lean Six Sigma project hopper to drive continuous cost improvement for product lines at contract manufacturers
  • Lead team to explore contract manufacturers that can enable new revenue streams in targeted technologies/businesses, providing quick access to global markets with low investment, risk, and cost
  • Evaluate and recommend how to optimize the contract manufacturing capacity, capability, and cost opportunities to meet customer needs and program requirements
  • Aggregate demand information for contract manufacturers and facility loading along with other information flows/data linkages
  • Implement processes that provide transparency of inventory at our contract manufacturers and customers to enable optimized manufacturing schedules while minimizing inventory investment
  • Establish product ordering and logistics operations to ensure high delivery performance
  • Ensure global trade compliance standards are met
  • Establish and monitor schedule attainment and cost metrics across all operations to ensure desired performance is attained and proactively identify potential issues
  • Partner with GSM to ensure rigorous procurement and contract processes are embedded within all contract manufacturing operations
  • Identify areas for improvement through data analysis and business partner/stakeholder feedback



  • Bachelor’s Degree (Technical/Engineering, Business, or Manufacturing)
  • Minimum 5 years of manufacturing management experience in progressively senior positions
  • APAC regional work experience, working across countries and cultures
  • Experience leading regional teams, including matrix assignments
  • Experience managing 3rd party contract manufacturers to achieve business success
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain processes and manufacturing operations management
  • Fluent in English (written/verbal)
  • Willingness to accept extended business travel (50%)
