Job Summary

We are seeking several Assistant Animal Husbandry Technicians for our world class primate facility in Tranent.

We are a progressive and close-knit team, working hard to ensure the safety of new medicines which target life threating and debilitating diseases. We are passionate about our animals, striving to provide the best possible care with a culture of continuous improvement.

You must share our commitment to welfare and have a strong desire to work with animals.

The role is physically demanding and you will be active and on your feet most of the day.

In return we provide all the training and support you need. A positive attitude with a good work ethic is essential, as we need reliable individuals with a good attendance record.

The following are minimum responsibilities related to the Assistant Animal Husbandry Technician position:

 

  • Cleaning and sanitation of animal rooms, cages and equipment
  • Use of pressure washers and disinfectants
  • Feeding animals and checking water provision
  • Positive interaction with animals, including providing treats, fruits and vegetables
  • Participating in animal training programmes
  • Handling animals for procedures
  • Maintenance of stores and general housekeeping throughout the facility
  • Basic recording and documenting of activities

The following are the minimum requirements related to the Assistant Animal Husbandry Technician position:

  • Ability to work overtime including weekends and weekdays
  • Previous experience working with or looking after animals is desirable.

Salary for this position is £17,030 with opportunity for progression
