Project Overview:
Bechtel is designing, constructing and commissioning the world’s largest radioactive waste treatment plant for the U.S. Department of Energy at the Hanford Site in southeastern Washington state. The Hanford Tank Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant will use vitrification technology to process and solidify 56 million gallons (210 million liters) of radioactive and chemical waste stored at the Hanford site, which is a byproduct of plutonium production during World War II and the Cold War era.
The project is the largest undertaking of its kind and one of DOE’s most technically challenging cleanup projects. Its construction spans 65 acres (26 hectares) with five major nuclear facilities – Analytical Laboratory, Effluent Management Facility, High-Level Waste Vitrification, Low-Activity Waste Vitrification, and Pretreatment – as well as operations and maintenance buildings, utilities, other support facilities.
The Waste Treatment Completion Company (WTCC) is a limited liability corporation created by Bechtel National Inc. (BNI) and Amentum. WTCC is a subcontractor to BNI, the prime contractor, to deliver the construction, turnover, startup, and commissioning activities for the WTP project.
This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works rotating shifts 4 x 12.5 hour shifts (Days, Evenings). The typical schedule is four on and four off.
Job Summary:
Performs a full range of document management duties in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Duties require accuracy, judgment, initiative, discretion, and flexibility. May work with confidential information. May be required to anticipate changing priorities.#LI-KL1
Major Responsibilities:
- Provide document management support for WTCC Maintenance.
- Using software and an electronic data tracking system, assist Field Engineering and planners with ensuring the latest drawings/documents are available for work packages.
- Perform data entry in CMMS to maintain logs and track documentation as required.
- Export and distribute tracking reports as requested using standard office automation tools such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Access.
- Assemble documentation work packages for Craft personnel.
- Maintain work package library.
- Using maintenance software system check-in, and checkout work packages upon request.
- Interface on a routine basis with a variety of project personnel providing support and responding to questions.
- Perform other duties and assignments as directed by supervisor.
- Operate standard office equipment.
- Adjust priorities according to direction.
- Ability to work overtime and/or hours outside the normal work period.
- Use of judgment and initiative within guidelines and well-defined scope.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires 2-4 years of related experience.
- Must be able to demonstrate basic to intermediate proficiency in data entry. A skills test will be administered to test proficiency.
- Possess the legal right to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to walk distances around the construction jobsite on gravel and walkways in inclement weather, e.g., heat, snow, rain.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Effective communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills required.
- Proven capability including the ability to multitask while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Operate effectively in an extremely fast-paced, high-energy environment.
- Flexible and willing to shift gears and take on unexpected and/or unanticipated projects as needed.
- Ability to take direction from multiple sources.
- Ability to work effectively with a variety of team members while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Ability to handle routine items independently.
- Familiarity with scanning process and equipment preferred.
- Ability to learn new processes, procedures, and software.
- Knowledge of technical vocabularies and terminology common to the assignment.
- Knowledge of Bechtel’s organizational structure, functions, and procedures is desired.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work with confidential material and maintain strict confidences.
- Ability to use judgment and initiative, work independently, and provide solutions with minimal supervision.
- Operation of Bechtel standard computerized systems and other information transmission systems.
