Bechtel’s Graduates joining our London office as part of the Oil, Gas and Petrochemicals (OG&C) global business unit have a breathtaking range and variety of opportunities available to them with truly international career prospects. The London OG&C office has recently worked on projects in various exciting locations such as India, Egypt, UAE, Turkey, Canada and Kazakhstan. Experience on a project site is offered and encouraged right from the start; allowing you to see world-class work taking place on the ground.

From day one, a Bechtel Chemical engineer will be working on a range of stimulating and challenging projects in the Oil and Gas, LNG and Petrochemical fields proactively working on activities such as:

  • Basis of design, capturing purpose, context and conceptual design for the project and individual units.
  • Design studies, optimizing, developing and selecting the process flow scheme.
  • Developing steady state and dynamic simulations, Process Flow diagrams and heat and material balances.
  • Plant Utilities design and energy optimization and chemical consumption
  • Sizing and defining major items equipment, preparing equipment data sheets
  • Design of Relief and Blowdown systems and safeguarding systems.
  • Developing Piping and Instrument diagrams showing details of all connections in the facility.
  • Operating philosophies, commissioning, operating and shutdown procedures.

Chemical Process engineers are always close to the heart of our project teams, where you will get experience from first concept, modelling and design through to construction, commissioning, testing and startup of facilities.

Our Engineering Graduate Development Programme is accredited by the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) and is designed to help you become Chartered as early as possible. It will give you firsthand experience across all the business processes from engineering design, procurement, construction and commissioning. It is also designed to span the gap between the theoretical knowledge from university and the applied engineering skills required to execute major construction projects.

JOB QUALIFICATION:

  • Successful candidates should be on track for a relevant 2:1 honours degree (or overseas equivalent) and be legally allowed to work in the UK/EU.
  • Work experience relevant to the area you are applying to and extra-curricular activities will assist in your application.
