Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Purpose of the Position:

The Technology Capital Systems Specialist will be responsible for leading the AR Management Processes for OFC WW including the deployment of the new Corporate AR approval workflow and system in 2022. The position reports to the OFC Capital Manager and together they will also manage the OFC Capital Portfolio in the corporate tool, Planview. This position will also have responsibility for coordinating deployments of Planview tool improvements and functionality enhancements that impact the Capital Portfolio Management for OFC such as Planview Project Management. The intent is for this position to become a Subject Matter Expert in the systems and tools to support the management of the AR Process and the Capital Portfolio and its processes. This position with interface with employees at all OFC locations in NA, EMEA, and APAC working with the plant, regional, and LT levels.


Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Work with Project Managers to ensure submitted ARs meet all Corporate and OFC requirements
  • Facilitate the AR approval process for OFC
  • Develop and deploy AR system training as needed
  • Maintain Global Capital Management Sharepoint site for capital and AR resource information
  • Deploy changes to AR processes or systems and Planview systems
  • Daily management of capital portfolio changes
  • Become a Planview SME
  • Support OFC Capital Manager with annual 5-year capital planning and annual budget setting processes.
  • Work with global project managers and capital contacts on AR help requests and capital portfolio questions.


Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Engineering field (preferred)
  • Greater than 5 years of experience in engineering, operations and/or project management

  • Ability to lead change management processes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and executive presentation skills
  • High level of interpersonal skills (interacts on daily basis with capital contacts and project managers worldwide); able to build rapport, be approachable, resourceful, and responsive
  • Ability to learn new platforms and data analytics tools as needed (ie. SharePoint, Power BI).
  • Attention to detail/Org skills and Time management/prioritization
  • Strong process / process improvement orientation
  • Advanced skill set in Excel (pivot tables, formulas, graphical display of data).
