Job Summary

Implement mission/flight assurance plans for individual spacecraft flight hardware programs addressing design, manufacturing, integration, and test activities in accordance with company and contractual requirements. Works as a member of an integrated product team with Orbital ATK Safety & Mission Assurance staff in various groups to address technical issues, meet program requirements and ensure mission success. Interface with customers, vendors, and with Orbital ATK Manufacturing, Integration & Test and Engineering organizations to identify and resolve mission/flight assurance issues. Provide support to program Flight Assurance Manager in review of various activities.

Job Responsibilities

1. Implements and administers an effective Safety and Mission Assurance program in compliance with applicable customer contracts and other guidelines set forth by Flight Systems Group requirements. Contributes to the development of new principles, concepts and theories. Subject matter expert in related field.
2. Works on unusually complex technical problems and provides solutions which are highly innovative.
3. Develops advanced technological ideas and guides their development into a final product. Decisions or recommendations result in achieving organizational objectives.
4. Provides support to others in understanding link between specific assignments and larger organizational objectives. Represents S&MA as organization spokesperson on advanced projects and/or programs.
5. Advises management and customers on advanced technical requirements, research studies and applications.
6. Ensure Risk Management activities (dFMEA, pFMEA) are executed and maintained according to standards and procedures.

Education and Experience

Requires BS in Engineering & 15 years or Masters in Engineering & 10 years or PhD in Engineering & 7 years.

Other Requirements

Able to read engineering documentation and inspect drawings and parts lists, inspection plans, and supplemental instructions. Extensive knowledge base in Cause Analysis tools, such as Ishikawa, FMEA, DOE, KTA (Kepner Tregoe Analysis) etc. Previous experience managing elements of AS/ISO/CMMI certified internal and external organization.
