Key Responsibilities:

Lead new coating materials and coating process development projects Develop and define requirements for coating process and equipment design through fundamental understanding, modeling, and systematic experimentation on prototypes. Scale-up coating delivery systems Work with supply management and help manage vendors for supply of coating materials Drive design, development, execution and documentation of projects from concept through piloting and transfer of technologies into manufacturing. Collaborate across Research, Development, Engineering, and Manufacturing organizations to transfer technology from development to manufacturing scale environments. Enable laboratory technicians and other junior engineers/scientists to facilitate prioritization of laboratory work and efficient completion of project deliverables. Assist manufacturing organization in developing and maintaining process and materials chemistry understanding. Prepare and deliver presentations and written reports to communicate project status and results across all levels of the technical and business organizations. Work with Quality Control group in developing and transferring analytical methods for new materials and processes.  

 

Travel Requirements (please note if international): 10-30% Domestic and International travel depending on the project  

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: 40 hours/week  

 

Education and Experience (minimum required for consideration)

PhD/MS in Chemical Engineering, Organic Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, or related fields with at least 5 years’ experience in the Coatings, Adhesives, Sealant or Elastomers industries or closely related field.  

 

Required Skills (These are skills that candidates MUST possess)

Demonstrated expertise in organic and polymer coating materials and coating application process development. Demonstrated experience with coating application process equipment Expertise in organic, polymer, physical, and analytical chemistry and characterization methodologies. 2+ years leading technical project teams in formal project management systems. Ability to take ideas from concept to implementation with a strong emphasis on applications, scale up, piloting and plant trials. Experience resolving complex problems based on theoretical analysis and structured problem-solving methodology. Ability to develop, scale, and transfer technology across research, development, engineering, and manufacturing. Ability to collaborate across organizational boundaries with effective communication skills throughout all levels of the organization.

Basics of Manufacturing and Other Analysis Tools (KT) trained Strong communication skills Ability to Prioritization and/or multi-tasking Experience across lab scale, pilot, and manufacturing environments.
