The Role

The Lumen Work From Home Sr. Lead Technology Architect is responsible for providing a variety of technical consulting and advisory services for many complex clients.  Functions include a broad horizontal skill set and core competencies in multiple technology disciplines.  Competency in areas such as business leadership, management, relationship building, and client interaction are required.

The Main Responsibilities

   Effectively communicate lifecycle technology and strategy recommendations / decisions to clients. 

  • Advance the art and methodologies used internally for the delivery of client solutions.
  • Understand a client’s business application(s), operational environment, and how they support the company.
    • Responsible for providing a detailed technical design for enterprise solutions.  Present new infrastructure solutions and/or improved utilization proposals to client and assist the Lumen account team in pre and post sales activities.
    • Regularly leads in the technical assessment and delivery of specific technical solutions to the customer.
    • Collects and determines data from appropriate sources to assist in determining customer needs and requirements
    • Translates business and technical requirements into an architectural blueprint to achieve business objectives and documents all solution architecture design and analysis work.
    • Coordinates implementation of new installations, designs, and migrations for technology solutions in all of the following work domains: networks, cloud, devops, applications and platforms.
    • Owns and manages knowledge sharing within a community (e.g. team, practice, or project). Ensures team members support knowledge sharing and re-use requirements of project.

  • Leads and/or provides expertise to functional project teams and may participate in cross-functional initiative.
  • Provides advanced technical consulting and advice to others on proposal efforts, solution design, system management, tuning and modification of solutions.
  • Design resilient and secure multi-tiered hosting and cloud infrastructure environments / solutions.
  • Create impact assessments on client infrastructure for developing / changing requirements.
  • Provide lifecycle technical leadership within the Lumen account team in support of the client.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for improving client infrastructure utilization to maximize value of their investment. Set the strategic direction and provide leadership for determining the roadmap for standardization, modernization and consolidation of the global IT assets and solutions.
  • Participate in problem resolution in an advisory role as required on client impacting events.
  • Identify, develop and champion opportunities for automation both within specific clients and across many clients. 

What We Look For in a Candidate

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in at least two IT solution development disciplines, including technical or infrastructure architecture, network management, application development, middleware, database management or cloud development
  • A high degree of competency in cloud, devops, and hybrid services including container services, cloud/edge, security, databases, applications development, and networking.
  • Ability to lead a team(s) from multiple disciplines and/or companies on a global scale; provide direction and support to others; while succeeding in a matrix organization.
  • Proficient in designing multi-tiered managed and cloud/edge infrastructure environments.
  • Ability to gather, compile and analyze data to make practical recommendations at the tactical or strategic level to executive management.
  • Strong sales support skills, recognizing client needs for current and follow-on opportunities, gains client respect, and possesses exceptional relationship building skills.
  • Exceptional communications capabilities, including leveraging other people, giving presentations and speaking comfortably with a senior client audience.
  • Possess initiative and the ability to work in a self-directed manner.
  • Takes accountability for problems or failures, responsible for own actions, demonstrating strong ethics and integrity, and practices consistent follow-through

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experienced with scripting language(s) that helps enable various orchestration and automation integration points.
  • Proficiency in web enabling technologies and products.
  • Familiarity with various network topologies and models.
  • Understanding of business goals and objectives in a global GxP environment.
  • Proficiency and/or Cloud Service Certification(s) in one or all:
    • AWS
    • Azure
    • GCP
    • VMware
      • Automation Integrations – Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Jenkins
      • Terraform
      • Kubernetes – AKS, EKS, GKE, IaaS, SaaS, PaaS, DRaaS, IaC
