SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
We are seeking an energetic, responsible intern to join our Amtrak IT/CIO Communications Team. In this position, you will be expected to learn the ins-and-outs of our daily routines and procedures. You will focus on learning how our organization runs and be expected to gain valuable insight that can further your interest in a communications career. In addition to office duties, you will have the opportunity to meet managers, executives and C-suite members of Amtrak. Duties will vary by assignment, and there will be many opportunities for learning new concepts and skills.
- Update the slides from Corporate Communications for the IT network digital monitors each week.
- Update the IT intranet site.
- Research and develop new FAQs.
- Update the IT success stories.
- Update the Policies and Procedures, and Tools and Resources, as necessary.
- Brainstorm/research ideas about new content to be considered for the site.
- Capture minutes at key, strategic meetings and provide additional administrative support for meetings and special projects.
- Must be actively pursuing a degree at an accredited educational institution.
- Must be actively pursuing an undergraduate degree in Communications, English, Journalism or related field.
- Must have at least 1 year of academic undergraduate studies completed or be sophomore status, at minimum.
- Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Prefer a Junior or Senior level undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Communications, English, or Journalism.
COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.

If an applicant/employee refuses to provide written consent for Amtrak to obtain these records, the individual will not be permitted to perform safety-sensitive functions.
