About the Role:
The Senior Manager, Sustainability Reporting is a key member of the Boston Scientific Corporate Accounting team and will partner with Boston Scientific’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) organization and key stakeholders to prepare for compliance with Global regulatory reporting requirements.  Primary responsibilities include monitoring regulation, developing compliance roadmaps, managing processes to obtain required data and implementing policies and controls required to meet investment-grade reporting standards. This position will have significant interaction with our Corporate ESG team, ESG data owners, Legal, Global Internal Audit, Investor Relations, SEC Reporting and Regional Finance teams and will be a member of the ESG Disclosure Committee. The role will report to the Director, Technical Accounting & External Reporting.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead compliance readiness activities for ESG regulatory reporting including the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), pending SEC regulations and California’s Climate Legislation.
  • Collaborate with business partners to draft quantitative and qualitative disclosures. 
  • Design and implement controls over ESG reporting and train data owners on requirements.
  • Support the preparation and review of our annual Performance report, a voluntary Sustainability report, and build on this foundation to deliver ESG regulatory reports.
  • Monitor global ESG disclosure obligations, emerging regulation, and evolving reporting practices and work with business partners to address gaps.
  • Collaborate with internal partners to integrate ESG information and data into financial statements, as required, and support implementation of digital reporting taxonomies and XBRL tagging.
  • Support ESG assurance engagements.
  • Develop annual continuous improvement plans to enhance reporting.  

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree is preferred
  • CPA required
  • 10+ years of relevant accounting experience, through combination of Big Four and/or industry
  • Working experience with ESG data collection and validation preferred
  • The successful candidate will exhibit the following skills:
    • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SOX 404 and COSO framework
    • Strong understanding of internal control processes, accounting practices, audit and assurance
    • Strong attention to detail & data accuracy, while understanding the “big picture”
    • Outstanding organization, process and time management skills, including ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
    • Problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret and apply technical accounting and/or regulatory reporting guidance
    • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to manage and coach others
    • Ability to build relationships and influence with key stakeholders
    • Experience creating inclusive environment and supporting DE&I
