Position: Senior Database Administrator

Duties: Responsible for end-to-end implementation of database systems in support of applications across the Enterprise. Design and implement backup, recovery, archiving, and conversion strategies, applying knowledge of DBMS utilities and administration tools. Optimize database by providing solutions utilizing new database features and functionality. Create and configure new Unix/Linux database server environments and database environments. Perform database cross-platform database migration, query tuning and troubleshooting of real-time mission critical database applications. Review SQL to identify bottlenecks. Provide performance tuning and optimization recommendations based on database performance reports, system diagnostics, and OS performance. Consult and advise application development teams on database design, security, query optimization, and performance to support 24/7 production database and to ensure database availability and stability. Define and develop database standards, policies, and procedures. Manage database elements, including creation, alteration, deletion, and copying of schemas, databases, tables, views, indexes, stored procedures, triggers, and declarative integrity constraints.


Requirements: Bachelor's degree in computer science or accounting (willing to accept foreign education equivalent, including a 3-year foreign degree) plus eight (8) years of experience performing sophisticated database administration for Oracle and MySQL with a focus on continuous improvement, database security, and technology strategy. Specific skills/other requirements (quantitative experience requirement not applicable to this section unless otherwise stated) — must possess the following: implementing database and database internals, including high availability solutions, cloning clustering, storage and replication, in Oracle and MySQL Relational Database Management System (RDBMS); supporting, configuring, and utilizing Oracle utilities RMAN, OEM, DataPump, Active DataGuard physical/logical database, HA solutions, and OID; programming in Oracle GoldenGate, SharePlex, Shell scripting, Perl, SQL and PL/SQL (3 years); performing capacity planning, workload modeling, and prediction in Linux/Unix operating systems (5 years); managing and delivering complex database projects and documentation, using SQL, PL/SQL, Oracle, MySQL underlying storage engines, replication configuration, and de-facto standards; supporting a Global 24x7x365 Oracle and MySQL production environment on Linux and AIX; and performance tuning and database security management (5 years).
