An outstanding leadership opportunity has become available with our Cardiovascular Institute. The Sr. Director of Medicine will serve as an essential member of the Cardiovascular leadership team and oversees the delivery of patient care through subordinate staff and managers. Establishes operational goals, objectives and budgets for multiple complex departments. Responsibilities include establishment and implementation of optimal operating policies and procedures required to deliver quality patient care and appropriately manager resources.
Communicates, organizes, prioritizes, leads, facilitates, coaches and problem solves with reporting staff to ensure that goals, objectives, and budgets are met.
Works cooperatively with internal and external stakeholders to plan for new health care services and performance improvement initiatives. Effectively represents Carilion Clinic within the healthcare community and to the public.
Within area of responsibility, collaborates with senior management, directors, physicians, nursing, allied health staff, patients and vendors internal and external to the health care environment to work through highly complex processes and situations. Decisions have significant impact on quality of services and care, fiscal results, attainment of goals and development and retention of employees.
- Currently licensed as Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- BSN required.
- Master’s degree required.
Experience: 5-7 years experience in management, preferably health care environment, demonstrating increased and/or diversified responsibility for related services.
Licensure/Certifications/Registration: Licensure and/or certification in medical or management related discipline.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Advanced leadership, planning and organizational skills to manage multiple and potentially large, complex departments and to direct the successful completion of initiatives and achievement of fiscal goals. Demonstrated interpersonal and communication abilities to support and promote a respectful, inclusive culture of service excellence. Proven skills in clinical, operational and human resource management, including staffing, planning, performance management, team work and process improvement. Statistical analysis and fiscal management skills.
