Job Role Summary

 

Manager leading a team of Risk Control Analysts/Advisors whose primary responsibility is monitoring and managing the risk associated with ExxonMobil’s commodities trading activities. Your team will: provide risk control analysis and reporting for global and regional activities, monitor value and potential risk / exposure, and support high-priority strategic projects in ExxonMobil’s trading businesses.  

Job Responsibilities

 

In this position you will:
•    Lead a team of Risk Control Advisors/Analysts, providing developmental and operational support
•    Work alongside Risk Control and Trading Management to manage market and operational risk
•    Help coordinate and/or support strategic projects within Trading and Risk Control
•    Monitor and report daily risk, exposure, mark-to-market, P / L, and position matching (physical vs. paper) reports to trading and financial management
•    Identify exceptions to established limits and tolerances; remedy through authorizations or corrective actions
•    Advise on the financial impact and risk exposure of new strategies, activities or transactions
•    Ensure exchange (eg. ICE, CME, DME) and regulatory (eg MIFID2, EMIR, CEA, MAR, REMIT) compliance
•    Maintain general knowledge, expertise and awareness in the energy trading risk management area

Minimum Requirements & Preferred Skills, Abilities and Knowledge

 

Preferred Academic:
•    Bachelor’s degree or above (Master’s, MBA, CFA, or Ph.D.) in Economics, Finance, Mathematics or Statistics

 

Required Qualifications: 
•    7+ years of experience in petrochemical trading, financial or energy risk management
•    Experience with or knowledge of financial derivatives, risk evaluation and management techniques
•    Good understanding of decision analysis techniques, statistical modelling and comfort in modelling scenarios involving risk and uncertainty
•    Experience leading and developing diverse global teams
•    Good understanding of financial analyses and application to energy transactions
•    Attention to detail with a strong process execution focus
•    Preferable to be familiar with trade capture and nomination / scheduling systems; must be proficient in Excel or other data capture / modeling software
•    Strong analytical skills, and knowledge of financial instruments
•    Strong leadership, communications skills, and presence in discussions with senior management
