Ensuring Chart’s Success…

The Process Technology Engineer works with the Process Engineering and Process Technology teams to develop new and innovative processes from conceptual design to commercial development.  The candidate must have the ability to work well with others, provide expert knowledge and opinions.  The engineer must be able to prepare process information, reports, presentation and package of information to present to the working team as well as the management and business personnel.

What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…

  • Work with other engineers in the development of new and upgraded processes
  • Write process descriptions for new and/or updated processes
  • Support development of simulations
  • Support development work of heat and material balances
  • Support and develop Process Flow Diagrams
  • Support and develop P&IDs
  • Prepare process equipment data sheets, equipment lists, electrical usage, and utility usage lists
  • Ability to support process systems calculations, including line sizing, hydraulic evaluations, vessel sizing, valve sizing, etc.
  • Develop process control schemes for new processes
  • Check process engineering work performed by other process engineers
  • Assist in the preparation of Start-up and Operating Manuals

Your Education Should Be…

  • Bachelors, Masters, or Ph.D Degree in Chemical Engineering
  • Minimum of 10 year of industry experience
  • Strong preference of someone with experience in cryogenic processing.  This would include cryogenic air separation, liquefaction of natural gas, liquefaction of hydrogen, light gas separations, etc.

Your Professional Experience Should Be…

  • Knowledge of chemical engineering “First Principles”
  • Working knowledge of ASPEN HYSYS and/or SimSci process simulation software
  • Working knowledge of ASPEN and/or AVEVA dynamic simulation software.
  • Understands basic applicable engineering codes
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written for the purpose of explaining challenges and solutions internally
  • Good interpersonal skills to successfully interface other engineering disciplines and customers
  • Good understanding of process safety codes and standards, PSM regulation, NFPA codes and standards, general safety standards when dealing with acetylene and acetylene manufacture.
  • Knowledgeable with patent development and intellectual property.
