Orbital ATK is currently seeking an experienced Princ Structural Analyst to join our Mechanical Engineering team in our Chandler, AZ office.

Role Description & Responsibilities:

Principal Engineer or Senior Engineer

• Under limited supervision the candidate will evaluate the structural integrity of composite and metallic launch vehicle structures.
• Candidate will generate results and work with design engineering to incorporate required changes.
• Candidate will be required to independently define scope of task, perform analysis utilizing appropriate classical and computer aided techniques, and present results orally and in writing.
• Must be willing to work with and mentor less experienced analysts.

Experience Requirements:

• Candidate must have in-depth understanding of mechanics of materials, structures, and load paths.
• Proficiency with FEA software required, FEMAP/NASTRAN preferred.
• Proficiency with specific analytical techniques such as nonlinear methodologies, fatigue, fracture mechanics, buckling, and modal analysis are preferred.
• Experience with composite analysis, design, or repair preferred.
• Working knowledge of MS office is required.
• U.S. citizenship required.
• Prior or current clearance is desirable.

Education/Certifications

• Candidate must have a minimum of 7 years of related experience.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering is required.
• Bachelor of Science degree plus nine years of related experience or equivalent combination of education & experience.
• Position may be offered at one level lower.
