This position is eligible for 50% remote work at the present time. The arrangement may be delayed for training or other job acclimation purposes and remains subject to change.


Your Responsibilities


As a Precision Metrology Engineer for John Deere Turf Care located in Fuquay Varina, NC, you will:


  • Ensure management of CMM and Calibration resources to effectively support current production & new product programs by:
    • Provides supervision and work direction for 4 technicians. 
    • Writes, updates, troubleshoots, and operates Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) programs. 
    • Ensuring active management and prioritization of CMM workflow schedule.
  • Ensure effective execution of Calibration Processes
    • Maintain the calibration schedule to accommodate production schedules.   
    • Effectively communicate any out of spec conditions and disposition using NCCA system. 
  • Metrology expert 
    • Act as Turf Care representative in Corporate CoP to understand upcoming challenges, technologies, software changes, etc.
    • Provide GD&T interpretation and guidance for design, weld manufacturing, and quality engineers.

What Skills You Need


Specialized skills, knowledge and abilities needed to perform the essential functions of the job:


  • Understanding of GD&T standards for dimension and tolerancing
  • General coordinate measuring machine (CMM) knowledge 
  • Understanding of Dimensional Measurement and Interface Standard (DMIS) 
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills

What Makes You Stand Out


Relevant Work Experiences: 


  • Programming in Silma (Metrologic's offline software).
  • Understanding of Metrologic XG online software.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience with engineering tools, systems and databases. 
  • 1 to 3 years experience in use of statistical tools and techniques for quality management.  
  • 1 to 3 years internal or external industry specific experience in relevant discipline.  
  • 1 to 3 years previous work experience in one of the following areas: electronics, mechanical or hydraulic.  
  • 1 to 3 years Metrology engineering experience, including the use of metrology tools and techniques. 



  • Degree in an Engineering/Technology, Science, or Math discipline or equivalent experience.
