Colgate-Palmolive invites applications to a postdoctoral research Scientist (PDRS) position located in Piscataway, NJ. This is a two (2) year fixed term of at-will employment. 

 

The key responsibilities of this position are as follows:

  • Design and execute experiments to investigate time & temperature dependent rheological behaviors of complex surfactant systems impacted by factors such as various types of actives and rheology modifiers, build fundamental understanding, guide product development and advance project objectives

  • Enable Company’s digitization strategies through rapid and predictive methodologies, especially on the stability & performance in consumer products utilizing modern surfactant & colloid fundamentals 

  • The systems of interests are the interactions of active ingredients (both hydrophilic and hydrophobic) with other key formula ingredients such as surfactants, polymers, amino acids, & particulates in Personal Care, Home Care, & Oral Care products  

  • Interpret and communicate complex experimental & theoretical results to both technical and non-technical business partners effectively

  • The PDRS will use a variety of tools & characterization techniques to study & predict ingredient interactions in Colgate’s next generation products, and work closely with other research and product development teams to gain insights on predicting product stability and performance. 

  • The PDRS will also have the opportunity to present technical findings to internal R&D community & management teams, to external conferences, and to document findings in internal technical reports and/or external publications.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD in surfactants, colloid, or related interdisciplinary STEM fields.

  • Highly knowledgeable and having extensive experience on surfactants, colloids, micro-emulsion, coacervation, and dispersion systems as well as ingredient interactions in such complex systems

  • Have deep fundamental understanding and extensive hands-on experience on rheology, tensiometry, dynamic light scattering, electron microscopy, UV-vis spectroscopy, and separation techniques such as GC/HPLC 

  • Have a strong record of peer-reviewed publications.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferably has hands-on experience applying Hydrophilic-Lipophilic Deviation (HLD) methods in industry challenges as well as experience & knowledge on molecular modeling of complex surfactant systems

Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range $88,000 USD

Pay is based on multiple non-discriminatory, individualized factors including but not limited to experience, job-related knowledge and education, skills and office/market location. In addition to base salary, salaried employees are eligible for annual discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing and, for Executive-level (salary grade 16 and above) roles only, long-term incentives in the form of Restricted Stock Units and/or Stock Options.

Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable benefits plans then in effect, all salaried employees are also eligible for a competitive benefits package which includes:

  • Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees may take up to eight weeks of paid parental leave and 12 weeks of unpaid leave (varies for employees with fewer than 12 months of service and is subject to hours worked requirements)
