Job Summary

A Painter and Decorator vacancy now exists within the Site Services department based in Tranent. This is a permanent full-time role.

As a Painter and Decorator you will be responsible for decorating and repairs for the interior and exterior of the buildings and estate for the main Tranent site and three satellite sites across Edinburgh and East Lothian. You will be responsible for keeping our facilities in perfect condition by doing various odd jobs.

Applicants Must Have:

  • Painting and decorating experience.
  • You must have a full, clean drivers licence.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working in teams and on your own initiative.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Plastering experience would be desirable.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Applying paint, stains, varnishes and other finishes.
  • Using brushes, rollers or spraying equipment.
  • Maintaining your tools in good working condition.
  • Removing old paint or wallpaper by sanding or scraping, or by using heat guns, liquid paint removers or steam strippers.
  • Repairing cracks and holes in walls.
  • Preparing and cleaning surfaces.
  • To participate in overtime as is reasonably required to ensure the smooth running of the department.
  • Adhere to safety rules on site.
  • Reading specifications to determine required materials.
  • Effective time management.

 

You will work 36.25 hours per week, i.e. from 9:00am to 5:00pm, 5 days in 7, including weekends. These days will be agreed in advance with your manager.

Please ensure that if you are successful for this position, you are fully able to make your own travel arrangements to and from work during normal working hours and for overtime hours at the weekend, evenings and early mornings (if applicable to your role).

Salary depending on experience.
